opinions on the best dd suspension?

Whats up guys I am looking to enhance the ride of my daily driver, my grandmother was in my 4runner the other day and she was complaining about how rough it rode compared to her ford edge suv, I have a 97 sr5, I rarely tow anything and i drive though the city on cobblestone roads alot and big pot holes are inevitable right now its pretty much all stock 170,000 mile worn out crap

I was thinking about trd tundra coils and lc 8wraps and some good bilstiens, basicly the ss 1.2 kit, maybe addco swaybars and some semi aggressive a/t tires on some fj cruiser rims i have but then again maybe someone here has been my quest and could point me in a better direction. anyways any advice as always is greatly appreciated

I'll cut you a break since you're relatively new.

The SS kit is great but it might be an overkill if you're just looking to clean up the ride a bit. New shocks and springs will bring it back to life just as well.

This wheels and tires will fit with that lift but if you stay closer to stock, stick with a 265/70/17 or even 265/65/17.

The Addco sway bars are a nice touch but again, they'll do more for you the lower the truck is. As you go higher, no matter what sway bars you have, you'll increase body roll.

You are kind of asking for two different things.

New 99 coils will give you the best ride and a little lift.
The TRD coils do ride nice but are a little more firm than stock.
The LC coils are a nice soft ride.
Shocks are THE place you want to concern yourself. I think the Bilsteins ride great.
Maybe 99 front coils on Bilstein 5100 adjustables and some LC coils in back.

Tires. An LT tire will ride rougher than a P series tire. A 17" tire will also ride rougher than a 16".

You can run a 32" tire on stock suspension with little to no rubbing.

Your shocks are probably shot and springs are sagging to the point tha when you hit a bump, you hit the hard bumpstops.

Just get some Billstein HD shocks, the 5100 is a firmer ride. The HD's are smooth as butter IMO

Are you lifting it so you never have to drive you grandma around anymore? I can guarantee she will never want to after you jack it up and make it so tall that you have to lift her into the front seat.

If you don't run a top plate spacer you will have massive rake, I still have about 1.5 inches of rake with a 3/4 top plate spacer. Expect to replace the CV axles shortly after lifting it, as your stock boots will probably start shooting grease which mean your CV is not too far from grenading. If you haven't replaced at least the LBJ's, do everyone a favor and get that done when you lift it. It added 15 minutes per side when I did my lift. I would also recommend Inner/Outer tie rods. If I were to do it over again, I would probably just rebuild my front end with all new poly bushings, ball joints, steering rack, and shocks in the front end instead of a lift. That will cost you as much as a TRD/LC lift and do more to improve the "crappy ride" your grandma is currently complaining of. Get a nicer set of shocks, say Bilstein 5100's, and you can just add a new set of springs to the front and lift it later on down the road. I can honestly say that my TRD/LC lift hasn't really "improved" the on-road ride. It is however, GREAT on the beach, and really soaks up the bumps from driving 20-30mph on the beach.

I personally find the ride of my tundra/80-series combo to be pretty bouncy without a lot of weight in the truck.

If you're just looking to improve the ride, I would just refresh the stock suspension. Start with new shocks, and if that doesn't do the trick, find some new or lower-mileage coils too.

I went with trd tundra 5100s on lowest perch with new 99s and a small spacer in the rear.
