Opinions please

I am sure you guys are getting tired of my at this point but I very much value your opinions, I have come across another one. This one is pretty much exactly what I want, 99 4runner Highlander Edition 3" lift, TRD Exhaust, and an ARB front bumper. The guy is asking 8000 which I think is way to much condsidering it needs, 4 new tires, the sunroof doesn't work, he said it could probably use new valve cover gaskets, the rear wiper was ripped off while buffing it, and the antennae is messed up. The previous owner pulled the flares off which kind of stinks, but I figure I can pick them up somewhere pretty cheap if I get it. I really think that 6400 is a more than fair price considering I will have to put close to 2000 into it when I get it. If all of this stuff was already done, I'd be willing to pay more but it isn't. What do you all think is a fair price for this runner?

The previous owner was a Toyota Mechanic, the guy says it has been regularly maintained the timing belt was changed at 86000 and it has 156000 miles on it, I haven't run a Carfax on it yet, no rust.
 
I say lowball the **** out of him and mention the timing belt will need to be changed within next couple years and the cost to repair sunroof, new tires, fender flares, etc.

I made a list. You think 6 is enough of a low ball? I'm not a huge fan of the ARB bumpers on the 3rd gens, but I'm sure I could find someone to trade with me for another one.
 
I think if you get it for anything that starts with a 6 you're doing well. A wiper is $20 at worst, Taco whip mod is $40. Maybe ask him to fix the sunroof if he was a Technician.

Sorry I should have been more specific, the guy he bought it from was a technician. I am going to offer 6 even and 6500 would be my tops, give him my list if he won't take it I guess I'll just keep searching.
 
Plus, you "like" the running boards and flares and are disappointed this one doesn't have those items. You like it, but aren't in love with it.....
 
If the owner is indeed a tech, then they should not only possess the ability to fix the broken antenna but also procure one at cost or wholesale as well as the wiper and sunroof motor.

Having a brother as a professional detailer while he was in college, I never heard him mess up a wiper or the sort. It seems as if someone is trying to hide scratches without knowing how to correctly apply the polish or medium they were using.

$6000, and if no go, move on.

He didn't go for the 6000, he said it doesn't need gaskets it just wouldn't be a bad idea. I said ok if it doesn't need them then we'd still be at 6400 and he didn't like that either so my search shall continue.

Was this in person? Or? Cash in hand speaks a lot louder than your dollar amount. It's a lit harder to say no to $6400 when you have the cash right there.

No it was over the phone he is almost 4 hours from me. He said money talks and i told him all I have to do is make a phone call and take a ride.

He just text me and said he would take 6400 and not a penny less.
 
Let me know if you get it and are interested in a new bumper...I really like those ARBs, and wouldn't mind buying a used one...
