Optima D27F or D35?

Optima's website shows both the D27F and D35 as compatible with my 2006 SR5 V6. I've searched the forum and haven't found anyone mentioning the d27f. I'd like the d27f since it has higher CCA, though it's more expensive. I'll have a winch within six months, so the heavier-duty would make sense.

Will it fit without drilling/mods? Other thoughts?

When I purchased my truck it had a group 27 size battery in it so I purchased an otpima d27 I just recently purchased it though and will be installing it this afternoon I can let you know how it fits in a few hours

also you can measure the battery in your truck with a tape measure and get the measurements of the battery online and compare to see where it will be tight fitting. I believe it's slightly longer and taller than the stock battery but I'm not certain as i haven't gone into installing mine yet I figured I'd find a way to make it fit, between the radio, electric fans, aircompressor, I wanted the extra power.

I replaced my 1yr old (and failed) optima with the diehard platinum in my other truck. I also just put 4 of them into my boat earlier this month. Once my Panasonic dies, the platinum will be in the 4Runner.

Good point, I have a few friends that use Optimas and have had nothing but great things to say about them. It appears that the Odyssey is made in the USA, while the Optimas are made in Mexico now (used to be USA). So that's a big selling point for me.

Damn - the Odyssey is $284 at Amazon... How do you know that the diehard is just re-badged?
The specs don't quite match up, maybe I'm doing something wrong?

I really want to know this!

Someday I would like to have a dual battery setup, I was looking into putting all of my added accessories{winch,on-board air,stereo, lights, etc} on 1 battery/W trickle charger and run the truck on a another(all to itself).

Not very experienced at electrical mods.:dammit:

beertinted, Enersys makes both odyssey & diehard platinum batteries, that may be why people call the diehards a rebadged odyssey's.

What you need is a 34R Optima. I have had mine in my 03 V8 4runner for 4.5 years and it has been great as have all Optimas I have owned. You need the R because that stands for reversed terminals. Toyota used reversed +and - compared to most manufacturers and if you do not use the R the cables will be to short.

Enersys makes the odyssey and the diehard plat, thus the reason we call them rebadged. The construction of them is top notch and super solid. They take a Pounding on my boat and get run down quite often. I used them in the desert in my truck and no issues. I have been running the platinums for several years with out issue, I could have saved a lot of money buying a cheaper battery, but the quality of these is worth the extra.

Thanks, all.. While I truly appreciate the valuable advice about alternate options, I think I might still have to stick with the optima. I have four buddies that I regularly camp/wheel with and they all have yellow tops going on 5+ years now. If the optima gives me any issues I'll jump ship to the diehard...

You don't want to mix the optima & plat if you go dual. Use the same battery when you go dual.

Also keep in mind the older optima's seem to be better than the newer ones.

It is best to have 2 same batts of same size . I have a oddy 1700mjt in the front and diehard plat 31 in the back, no problems , even tho one is lil smaller. I do have a decent big stereo and lots of lights, also do a big 3 to help the power demand. And you might want to invest in a high output alternator too if u want the best.
