Options for Cross Bars

I purchased the Inno paddleboard rack to mount on my factory cross bars for my 2015 TRD Pro (Not sure if the cross bars are different on other models)....To make a long story short, it appears as though the OEM cross bars are extremely low to the roof making it near impossible to mount any type of "clamp" racks.

The company didn't offer any shorter screws so I cut them shorter and they barely fit. However they already touch the roof so any added weight will be noisy and will scratch it over time so that doesn't really work either. I was hoping to use this as an opportunity to get a GOBI stealth rack but the fiancé put her foot down on that pretty quick haha.

Are there any good aftermarket crossbar options anyone has used for a similar situation? I've looked at a bunch but I'd prefer for them to not look bulky or hang off the sides too much. Thanks in advance!

I am not sure if you could clamp your Inno rack onto the RRO rack [MENTION=75502]JET4[/MENTION] posted the link for, the bars on the RRO rack are round, not oblong like the factory racks, but the RRO is a great rack. I modified some regular longer crossbar pads to fit on the RRO rack and I use those with some NSI Garb straps for my surfboards. The RRO rack is a bear to put on, but it is strong and versatile, and pretty low pro.

I have some Thule Crossroads aero bars on mine. With kayak saddles. When my Gobi stealth rack is delivered, I will use the Thule on that too, to make it 60 I chest wide to carry two surf ski kayaks and Sup boards.

Darn it, 60 inches. You can get shorter bars too, that don't protrude past the roof rails much.

Thanks for the replies everyone! From what I've found on my own as well as these racks, it seems like my $200 SUP rack is turning into a $500 rack pretty quickly.

Seeing as how I'll need to spend at least $250 for the crossbars, I may end up just biting the bullet and spending the $900 or whatever for Drabbits' rack.

I may be missing something but I usually have pretty good luck finding lightly used thule or yakima mounts on Craigslist, bars too. Just check the Yakima site and find out what system works for you (and crossbar length).

My bar mounts are probably 10 years old from other vehicles and they still fit the factory rails on my '14.

I bought the Thule 45058 crossroads package for mine. $310 Canadian vs $260 for the factory rails from the dealer. This package included the 58" crossbars that hang about 6 inches off the sides. I think the 50" wouldn't have much overhang at all.

I chose the Thule based on research on here. I'm pleased with it so far. My only issue is that the square cross bars create some wind noise up there. It's a bit better now that I have a cargo box mounted.

The Thule 450 feet are somewhat universal and fit many different rigs (it just clamps on our stock roof rails). You might be able to find a used set for a good price.

I use the Thule 810 SUP Taxi and it works great. Mine is a 2003 4runner but with the attachment method it would work great for the situation you describe. Just a suggestion.

FWIW I bought my Yakima rack from here...they had the best prices and the rack get tailored to your specific vehicle -bar lengths, mounting options etc.

Thanks for the suggestions! I ended up finding a deal on the Inno Aero XS100. I liked the sleek design with minimal bulkiness. Looks semi factor and I knew it would work with my Inno SUP Rack.

Should be here in about a week. The FIT guide told me I needed different sized cross bars but since my factory rails are parallel, I thought that was incorrect. I measured and ended up buying the same size for each crossbar...hopefully that was the right answer. Guess I'll find out in about a week. I'll post pics!
