Options for new spare - ST Maxx on nationwide backorder

So I am looking to pickup a more suitable spare especially since I'll be taking a week long trip to CO next week. I called my local Discount Tire and the Cooper ST Maxx 255/80/17's I have are on a nationwide back order. They went ahead and ordered a 255/80/17 BFG KM2, but I'm wondering if there are any other options I can get for a spare?

Also, the Coopers are listed as 32.8" diameter and the KM2's a 33.2" diameter? In the chance I need to use it, is there any issues in the size difference?

I was thinking if I could find a better AT tire in like a 265 size that runs big, something close to the 32.8" diameter that is cheaper and lighter than the KM2s. Anyone know of anything that would work?

If not, i'll just get the KM2 and use it until the Coopers come back in stock in a few months.

I am leaving Friday so if anyone recommends anything It'll need to be a pretty common tire that is easy to get in stock at the big tire store chains.

That could work if they can ship it to me ASAP. Price is pretty high for that tire though.

In 255/80/17 there are only 2 options. The ST Maxx and the BFG KM2.

Even with the backorder, I'd think finding a single should be doable. I'd be willing to bet the cost of the tire that it could be here by Friday if you ordered today.

I called Hibdon Tire about an hour ago and they had a total of 4 Coopers in the whole USA in 255/80/17. Closest one is in Springfield MO. I paid them the shipping cost as a down payment and they ordered it tonight. Fingers crossed it'll be here in time. I think it should as MO is only about 4 hours away.

If not, Discount Tire said they'll have a KM2 255 in by tomorrow morning. At $260/tire for the KM2 vs. $218/tire for the Cooper, I'm hoping Hibdon pulls through.

I wouldn't count them out again. It's my fault for waiting until a week before my trip to start looking for a tire. I had no idea they had become so popular. The guy at discount said they would sell them as fast as they'd get them in.

I really like the look and feel of the skinny tire and have enjoyed the cost and weight savings of them vs their larger 285 counterpart. I'll more than likely get another set when these wear out.

Because the ST Maxx is the cheapest tire out of the two tires available in that size, lol
