Ordered a lift! Bilstein 6112/5100 combo

Just ordered all my new toys, 6112's, 5160's, 1" Cornfed spacers and BFG KO2s. Got the fronts preassembled from Wheelers set at 1.85". I have 5100's now and like them but wanted to go a little higher and get rid of the crappy soft stock springs. Also getting rid of the Duratracs, never had Goodyears before and I don't think I will again.

I agree, the 5160's will add "0.0" lift to the rear, period.

If it is any higher, drive it around the block, let the shocks settle or you've done something wrong!

Thanks guys I had the washers wrong side up. I corrected them while installing my T13 rear coils... I'm getting about a 1.5" lift in the rear now.

The guys at Wheelers Offroad were really helpful when I called, and answered all my noob questions.

I got the 6112's set to 2.21" and got the T13 springs to raise the rear. I pull a trailer at least once a month and don't want to be nose up during that or when fully loaded.

Anyway... the LIFT IS AWESOME! Could not be happier.
It drives much better than stock and tracks straight and true. They were able to get the caster to 2.3 (whatever that means)... I just know that it rides way better and I kept the stock UCAs.

So, you are using the stock shocks in the rear - just added the T13s?

Finally got around to installing mine, had the fronts pre-assembled which made it much quicker (thanks Wheelers Off-road). Set to 1.85 with Cornfed 1" spacers in the rear. Sits perfect and rides so much better than stock.

Before with Bilstein 5100's set to .75

...time to update that signature... :yo:

First gen 6112's on the front and 5100's on the back and no complaints.

After 10 months with a winch on the front mine did settle down quiet a bit.

Second groove.

Happy to find your comment! I'm in conversation with a shop locally and I had originally inquired about the 6112/5160 combo and he sent me back the 6112/5100 combo stating it was more then enough rear shock for my needs.

I've been trying to find someone with the exact combo also do you happen to have any pics or write ups with your setup? I'm now trying to decide on perch settings and whether to go with a different rear coil or leave stock height in the back with an approx 2" lift in front. Trying to nail down the final details.

Since this thread was bumped - can some clarify that these are shocks are indeed the same one from the TRD PRO package (minus the full range of adjustable mounting points)?

What settings are your 6112's at?

Nice ride neighbor! Do these ride any better than the 5100's? How does she ride? Is it a daily driver?

Thank you. Yeah they ride a bit better than the 5100's, a little stiffer but not bad. Yep it's my daily, I'm looking at getting some UCAs next. Didn't think I would need them but the alignment guy said I was maxed on caster so I think adding them will make it drive a bit better.

Love this setup! What springs are you running in the rear? Also, when purchasing the 6112s did you choose the springs and have them assemble them or did you buy the kit with the springs already included?

The 6112's come with springs when you but them as a set, just used those. I think the best setup I've had would be the Old Man Emu setup I had on my FJ, loved it.

You did the install yourself? How long did it take you?

Yep, do all work myself. Took a couple hours taking my time, not bad at all.

No kidding, nice. I have KDSS but that is not really that big of a deal I suppose. I really don't have a place to do it either so I may have to take it somewhere which makes me nervous.

I here ya that's the reason I do all that I can myself. Hitech auto in Chantilly does great work and they specialize in lifted vehicles, not the cheapest but definitely worth it.

I still have a few months before I will get a new suspension but I am leaning heavily towards the 6112/5160. I would like to set the 6112's at 1.85" and get either the Dobinson's 1" lift rear springs or the new Eibach 1" lift rear springs.
I noticed manofsteele2003 and roborob1969 have their set up at 1.85" in the front with a 1" spacer in the rear. Do you still have some forward rake? I would like a slight forward rake in case I have the back cargo area loaded down. I'm thinking this set up will work out but I would like your input.
