Ordering GOBI

Ordered 7/14/16. Got a call a couple of weeks ago to schedule the free local install. I was kind of bummed when they started listing dates. They called me to schedule on 9/16/16, or 8 weeks later, and said the first date they could do the install was 10/12/16. So, it ended up being a call that scheduled me to wait another month. Oh well, it's almost here. At least I'm getting the lift and tires next week to tide me over until the following week!

why not just install it yourself.... it isn't rocket science

Cause I live only a few miles from them and it was an option they offered for free. I didn't even have the truck until 2 weeks ago. So, not really a big deal, but looking forward to it. And I didn't have to pay for shipping, which was also nice.

Gobi ladder with Frontrunner rack?

Anybody use a setup with the Frontrunner rack but the Gobi ladder on the rear?

Any other ladder recommendations or is Gobi the only one. Thanks

I got $100 off and free installation for local pickup. They didn't mention scheduling when I ordered though. Sure hope I don't get screwed on timing. Was it actually ready when they called? Or had they just figured out when yours would be good to go? If they schedule me for a month after it's built and ready I'll be heading over to strap it to my roof and just use a 6-pack bribe to get a neighbor to help me lift it for installation. Hell, I'll weld up a gantry if I have to in order to shave an extra 4 weeks off. :D

I'm not sure whether it was ready or not. Like I said I haven't been pushing too hard to get it since I didn't have the truck until 2 weeks ago. I guess I didn't even ask whether it was ready.

It kinds of sounds like if you push them they can make things happen a little faster. I just haven't really been in a hurry, i guess. It's kind of that time of year when I won't be using it for anything anyway.

Ordered from Trail Duty

I ordered my Gobi from Trail Duty 5/15 and it was delivered 8/17.

I had zero communication from Trail Duty. No emails. No calls. Nada. I called Trail Duty to confirm they received my order, and I did speak to a gentleman who confirmed receipt of the order. He said I would get an email with the invoice. Nope. Did not receive any communication from them whatsoever.

I called Gobi a couple times during the the 3 month wait. They were polite and helpful.

I got $100 off, free ladder and free shipping.

I would do it again, but I would probably order direct from Gobi.

One more perq of going direct is Gobi doesn't charge you until it's ready. I'm assuming TD charges you when you place the order, although maybe that's not the case.

Yes. Good point. Trail Duty took my payment when I placed the order. By ordering through Gobi, you get to hold on to your $1,500 for an extra 3 months.

At the HQ.

Sorry with your experience, unfortunately this seems to be far too common with them. But hey good luck in the office! :thumb3:

No problem. My experience with them has been great. As long as you are patient, there is no issue. I knew going in what my lead time was. So, I prepared accordingly. Easy enough and happy to be getting the rack installed today.
