OK I figured since we're a rare breed it was time to start a thread for "Original Owners Only and current mileage.".

Definition:
An Original Owner is a vehicle that you purchased brand new from a dealer. You are clearly the first owner.

NOTE: If it was passed down to you from a family member I will consider it if you have the documentation.

Rules:
 1. Picture of the Title with privacy information smudged or blacked out only. All else must be legible.
 2. Picture of the existing vehicle.
 3. Photo of current mileage.
 4. Any other "goodies"

Let's play!:guitar3:

 • Purchase Date: October 24th 2000
 • Purchase Price: 34,748.80
 • Color: Imperial Jade Mica
 • Interior: Grey
 • Original Mileage: 12
 • Current Mileage: 320,000
 • Current Mileage: 420,000 - Just updated as of April 27th, 2022

I bought this new 22 years ago. On February 25, 2022, I retired from my second job. My 4Runner is still hanging in there nice and strong. Being retired, I have a lot of extra time to put a little more TLC into it. Looking forward to adding a few more mods, beginng with lockers and a swing out rear bumper. Cheers!

ok. so i don't really have any pictures because i do not drive the truck anymore its actually not exactly on the road right now.

So here it is
1996 Sr5. My dad bought it new, i remember riding in the back seat as a young child.
2005 it was passed down to my sister to drive through high school.
2007 I took over and started driving it with somewhere around 200K milesish.
2009 my younger brother started driving it for a couple years until he got a f150 and then it went back to my dad driving it.
Then my brother hated the 12 mpg in the ford so started driving the 4Runner for the next couple years.
2014 my dad took over on and off. while he was going hunting driving on the highway the truck stuttered then lost all power. he pulled off to the side of the road and it would not start. towed to the shop and diagnosed a broken flex plate. with around 320,000 miles on it.

So as it sits right now it on jack stands with brand new tires (100 miles after it went kapoop) removed and waiting for me to go back home for a week or two this summer and do a complete overhaul on it.

So thanks for the story telling. how about some quick pictures?

I got it completely stock and put some of my own money into it.

Then when my brother got it we put a lift on it. Toytech spacers and 7 wraps in the rear. (sorry no current pic of it)

Elitists no...Old yes!

Elitists...(jk, I'm just jealous I didn't own mine since new)

I think "Old" would be a better label for us. Figure the newest 3rd gen is 13 years old and the youngest owner would have been 16 that could realistically place a 29 yr old in this category. At 34K they would have had to be making some bank or Mom and Dad bought it for them. I plan on keeping mine forever.

Look what just came in the mail!!

Got to love it. Think I'll frame it.

Just turned yesterday!! Sorry I don't have any pictures of the title. My wife bought it new before we got married in 1997, she bought a Kia Sedona in 2005 and I kept the 4runner. If I would of put half of the money I've spent on the Kia into the Toyota it would probably be able to fly!!

1997 2.7l 3rz-fe 2wd Stock.

My dad leased it for 4 years then bought it for 17k in 06.

also my dad managed to high center it on the gas tank in sedona one time too, i mean it came with 225/75r15s so who could blame him haha.

adjusted for tire size im at 260k, and still going strong. he gave it to me at 200k.

Parents bought the truck new in 1997, passed it down to me when I turned 16. No pics of the title since its at another house, but I have some of the window sticker and the purchase receipt.

And a couple of how the truck sits as of this morning.

Oh, and what makes my truck particularly special - the turbo!

Very nice! Your truck looks very clean and well taken care of. A 2.4 that get's 24mpg and low mileage. Do you get that with the turbo? I've never seen 24mpg in my 3.4. I think I'm at about 17 now with the bigger tires.

My dad bought it new in late 1996. It was an SR5 demo. I know people are scared away from demo vehicles, but you can most likely make an exception for 3rd Gen 4Runner's. It's never given issues and it's driven hard by us too. Maintenance goes a long way. It's probably one of the last few 1996's made considering that 97' production starts on 8/96 and I see stickers underneath it that say 7/29/96. Was it made on the last day of 1996 production? Who knows. Current mileage is around 118k and climbing very slowly since we alternate between cars. I'll update this post with more documentation.

The engine is the 3RZ, which is the 2.7L (the 2.4L is the 2RZ, only found in the 5 lug Tacomas). The truck got about 20mpg combined back in the day on the stock 225/75R15 tires, and on the 31s I'm running now, I get about 18 combined. Before the turbo, I got 13-15, but you really had to mash the skinny pedal to get moving before. The bad mileage is partially due to the 3.91 ratio third member the 2WD trucks got, which is much too tall for the large tires - I'm on the lookout for a factory 4.56 third, but so far no luck.

So if you have all the documentation as if you are the orginal owner can we join in???? Lol. Blue

The Title will separate the truth from fiction. You either are or your aren't based on the definition stipulated in the original posting. As a retired AF Veteran I will also trust your word until you prove me otherwise. I will "be polite and I will be professional" in this thread.... Jump on in Ol'Blue the water is perfect.

I wished I had it from day one but it's just not the story. But I know they paid a pretty penny fpr her off the window sticker and the extra for the still on the truck tint. I look forward to reading all the stories.I look forward to all the stories.

Cool, I grew up in Queens. Lived on L.I. for 10 years & bought my house here in Monroe 8 years ago. Been camping in the Catskills since I was 5yo, up Rt17 by Roscoe.
