Out of state purchase question..

I'm looking at purchasing a clean first gen 4Runner in CA and I live in PA. I wanted to look at options other than me flying out there to handle the money transaction.

yes I know, you need to look at it before buying, etc etc..

Are there any other options than using an Escrow service to handle the money transaction? The seller is wary of using an escrow service because he hasn't used one before. From what I understand, car brokers don't really handle the money transaction, they just help you find a car and negotiate, which I've already done.

Any thoughts, aside from "fly out there and check it out first"

I was going to go look at it for you if I was close enough, but LA is 8 hours away from me. So i can't.
I'm not sure if there is a service for something like that.

should provide wiring services at a small cost to you. Its about as secure as you can get since its bank to bank and FDIC ensured.

Just have your bank wire the funds to the sellers bank and have the banks comfirm the transaction.

Its your money and the bank is there to serve you and protect your money...

Thanks fellas. At this point I'm planning on flying out there next week to purchase the 4R. No other option really, and probably the safest bet anyway. I'll be sure to post a pic.

If the vehicle is not in the condition the seller said it is in, then the seller has perpetrated a fraud. Example: the seller says the 4x4 works and in fact it does not. Black and white issue. It either works or it doesn't.

A materially false statement that induces the buyer to execute a financial transaction that he otherwise would not have executed had he known the true facts, would constitute a fraud. There is civil fraud and there is criminal fraud. The FDIC doesn't insure the buyer or his account from any of that. That's all I'm saying.

I just purchased an 18 TRDOR out of state, and have used the "fly and drive" method about 8 times in the last 15 years.
