Outdoor Logic sliders put to the test!

Got my Outdoor Logic sliders installed at the shop a few weeks back in preparation for a weekend trip to Big Bear.

This past weekend we wheeled Gold Mountain, Holcomb Creek, White Mountain, and some other smallish side trails. Next time we will be doing Little John Bull, Onyx, and possibly Dishpan... Will probably need 35's or some M/T's as my BFG AT's weren't sticking all that great.

The sliders held up really well. I slammed them down on a few large boulders on Holcomb Creek and even at the rock garden in Gold Mountain. They are a really good product, and are built with some solid, thick material. I would definitely recommend them, and they are priced reasonably.

Smashed up my rear bumper a bit and of course the gas tank, other than that not much else. I did get winched off a rock by a Jeep, and felt violated, but the guys were super cool. Lots of real nice rigs out there, definitely an inspiration to get a front locker and more armor.

Just did holcomb creek in my discovery II last month and yeah stick to the left in gate keeper and you will hammer stuff lol... be taking the 4runner there this weekend hopefully to see how it fares since selling the disco.

How did you find Holcomb creek with 285s, I know they are 32.7 I did that trail with tires that size and would have been nicer to go up but I was locked front and rear....

- what was your biggest limiting factor
- was the rear locker just not enough

Biggest limiting factor I felt was traction. That encompasses the size of the tire, the tread, and of course a locker. If I had any of those 3, it would have been much easier (but its way more fun if its a challenge right?)

Sliders were a must ... as you probably know No way would I have made it without.

I was dragging my diff a little bit, and was visualizing my rear control arms bending ... I think my next mods will be belly pan, rear control arm armor and either 315MTRS or a front locker. Its my DD so I'm thinking ARB locker and keeping the 285s for efficiency

Yeah I just did 305/70/16 which came in at 33.5" km2s I'm hoping the grip is as good as my duratracs were.... I know the extra inch and extra width will help but the disco had a shorter wheelbase.

Good to hear how was the 3rd crossing where it has runoff and muddy a bit, right side easy left side pretty nasty....got any more pics?
