Outside vents run on all settings?

Trying to knock the smaller things out while I acquire the bigger things in the background. One is the noise at the first fan speed. The other is that no matter what setting I have it on, the outside 2 vents will produce air. Kind of a peculiar problem..does anyone have a clue?

Where is the noise coming from? Could it be the blower fan? http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/113266-cleaning-blower-fan-write-up.html

I will have to verify this, but I think mine also always blows air on the outside two vents regardless of the setting - maybe not as much as if you had it on that setting though.

I do need to drop that blower and clean, but not sure if that would be the cause of the noise but we'll see after I clean it. Do you mind reporting back about those outside vents?

If you push the recirculation button the air won't come out those vents. You could also close them manually.

Closing manually is obvious, but I'm looking to source the problem not avoid it.

Tried both recirculation and outside air, if the fan is on those outside vents are pushing no matter what setting

Its in the manual that the outsides will blow on any setting. I am 8000 miles away from my truck so i can't tell you which page but its in there. I always thought it was strange also.

Ya the outside vents for the ac continuously blow air unless manually set to be closed...
