It'd be like you posting about your stereo automatically adjusting the volume to compensate for sound in the cabin, you asking if there is a way to adjust it, and someone replying "using your radio while you drive isn't good."

I am experiencing the same cruise control issues on my 06. I also noticed it on my 04 Tacoma. However, it did not do this on my 08 Tacoma.....what gives?

I also didn't think my 4runner was doing it until after I put the leveling kit and wheel spacers on, but after reading this thread perhaps I was wrong.

So did the 04 tacoma do it because it had the smaller v6 than the 08 tacoma? The 06 4runner and the 08 tacoma have the same engine though, so does that mean the 4runner is just that much heavier? It was a DC Sport Tacoma. Perhaps it was just geared lower which would make overdrive stronger?

my V8 downshifts as well when ascending up a hill. gives off good tones though

I've got the same thing in Vegas even without the hills BUT, I notice it more when I have cruise set at higher speeds, say 75-80mph. If I'm traveling at the speed limits 65 or so, the 4R seems much less inclined to make large shifts. I use cruise whenever I can, helps to offset my right foot a bit.

I have an '04 with the 4-speed trans. I think it may be due to fewer available gear ratios, but it doesn't really have this problem. It does tend to allow a small reduction in speed before the trans shifts into another gear.
