Overall Performance For Off-road

:awais: I HAVE A QUESTION REGARDING THE PERFORMANCE OF 4 X 4 CHOICE ON 4 RUNNER, I HAVE A 96 4 RUNNER WITHOUT 4X4, I AM IN THE MARKET FOR A 2000 4 RUNNER LIMITED 4X4, I'D LIKE TO KNOW HOW IT PERFORMS OVERALL, I DO NOT WANT TO LIFT IT OR ADD ANYTHING, JUST BUY IT AS IS AND USE IT, CAUSE I HAVE FAMILY AND I WANT BOTH FOR THEM AND ALSO TRY TO USE IT OFF-ROAD BY MYSELF....

LET ME KNOW IF YOU RECOMMEND IT OR YOUR THOUGHTS....!!!

I agree....but don't look at a "off road" mag in the store shopping with the family and think your going to go rock crawling or sink it to the axles and put it in 4WD and pull yourself out.

Have fun just know your limitations.

Since you're looking at a 2000 4runner, i would make sure to get one with the rear locker (optional from factory). This will make your rig more capable. Other than that, your stock 4runner should be quite capable. Oh yeah, you should change your tires to something tougher (BFG AT KO or Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor or Bridgestone Dueler REVO).

As stated above, you should know the limitations of a stock 4runner...don't try anything crazy.

i have a 99 limited 4x4 and it is quiet capable... with good sets of tires.. but itz not a rock crawler for sure... i belive itz too heavy to climb anything... i usually go mudding/trail with my buddies truck and wranglers; i can pretty much do everything what they can do EXCEPT HEAVY/DEEP MUDDING and ROCK CRAWLING~!

ps i have 100% STOCK 4runner.. and wranglers have at least 2inches of lift and truck has 35 on it..
