This is what is preventing me from doing the HID conversion. I don't want to drill through the cap as previously I've had condensation issues.
On a 14+, do you have access to the bottom of the housing without removing the bumper/headlight housing?
Pics would be great.
Drilling the caps in my opinion is the easiest way to install HID's on the truck since the caps are only 10 bucks each OEM from the dealer, routing the wires from under may cause OE plastics to expand and deform over time let alone trying to shove more wires where there shouldn't be. AS far as being worried about condensation most HID kits have a round rubber grommet, what i did was drill the cap, insert the rubber grommet and applied silicone on the outside to prevent dust and condensation.
I ended up using XD.... not TRS.... check my build thread...

I did the Morimoto H11 kit from TRS. I've used their stuff in the past and it's always been great. I did have one bulb that wouldn't fire and they sent me a new one that day. Also added in their fog light. Holy crap they are amazing and definitely with the money!

Yes, I can see the hole in the bottom of projector housing and two wires running through it on the top photo. Does it matter that the original gray rubber grommet is removed and there is an opening? I really like the idea of this installation, but do not know enough about projector system to take a risk. Can somebody educate me on this matter?

Wiring routed...hid decently well. I purchased adapters that plug into my headlight plug directly to the ballast. I had the relay setup on my tacoma and the left would fire one second faster than the right and it irked me to death. These fire every time in sync with super fast warmup.
Ballast tucked between the air pump and headlight.

Had the dealer install HID's being I would get their warranty and it was the same price as me sourcing them out and I did not have to install myself. HID's are 6000k and my LED's are 5500k, have driven up the back side of a ski hill at 7500ft during a blizzard and could not be happier with how they perform. Originally thought I may want a light bar, however am happy being these do the job based on my requirements

They suck generally, the light pattern leaves dead zones, just go HID.
I just put 5000k XD HIDs in my 2016 and love it. The cutoff is just fine, not quite as awesome as a dedicated HID projector but more than good enough for regular use. The color is a bright white with a faint blue tint, I will be interested to see how they wear in and where the color ends up.
I plan on getting the TRS LED Fog Lights at some point too.

I have messed with/installed/used about 5 different brands of HID plug & play kits in different cars... And the quality/build/light output/color of @theretrofitsource is BY FAR leaps and bounds better than anything I have ever used. EASILY worth the extra cash & they have a great warranty. I went with the 50w and 4300k for the best output possible. I also strongly advise aiming our headlights down if you install any HID kit because it's just a common courtesy to other drivers and you still can light up more than enough road.
I also added some NOKYA hyper yellow fog light bulbs for an overall very functional/appealing lighting setup.

Any update on your HID install? I'm looking ahead to a black friday purchase and wanting to match XB LED fogs at 5500k. Not really a fan of any blue tinge but not a fan of halogen yellow either. What are your impressions?

I have really liked them, they have a small amount of blue tint, but not a ton. If you want just pure white go with the 4500k.
Here is a picture from the other evening, the camera/edit shifted the true color a bit but you can still see how the HIDs are a bit bluer than the fogs. Personally I love the minor contrast and think they look killer. And the output is great!

Dropped my XenonDepot H11 kit in on Tuesday. Install came out nicer than I expected with a trick about hiding things under the fender/hood seal & trim piece. See my install post for details on that. I also posted some before/after shots in the following post. I'm planning on aiming the headlights a little lower, but will wait to do that until after I get the front end lift on this coming Tuesday.

Thanks! I think so, the 5500k are a noticeably bluer than the fogs. I would be willing to bet that the 4500k HID is going to be the closest match you can get.
