Oxygen sensor replacement

Just got an estimate to replace an O2 sensor and man was it expensive. I have a 2003 4Runner with 129,000 miles.

So I am going to try doing this myself. It is a bank 2 sensor (right side) before the catalytic converter.

Questions - what brand names of sensors have others used with success? When you buy the new sensors do they come with all the gaskets and parts needed or is do I need to ordered that stuff separately?

First off, don't buy the cheapest O2 sensor you can find. A lot of guys on this forum and friends of mine have had really bad luck with cheap o2 sensors. Also, don't buy it direct from toyota either; buy the Denso counterpart. The Toyota OEM is the same thing as the denso you would buy off a shelf, it just comes in a Toyota box which raises the price 50-70 $$$'s a pop (it even says Denso on it). About doing it yourself, I can't help you there, but my local mechanic I really trust pulled and replaced both of mine (I blew 2 at once) and he only charged me $60 for labor. I would advise getting a quote on it if your not really sure, but i'm sure others might chime in on if its really easy to do yourself. Best of luck

I found this to be a super simple job. No gaskets to worry about. I bought the "tool" but didn't need it. Since you know which it is, it's trivial. Buy the oem as suggested, that makes it plug and play, the others require you to wire them up...no thanks!

Caution: do not break the manifold! For a couple days before I sprayed it with wd-40 hoping that it would penetrate and loosen a bit. Don't over-tighten it either.
