Oxygen Sensor?

ok so i went to a small time mechanic and he did a code test and tested the battery and said it was running a little lower (looked like 12 instead of 14) and he asked me if i had done anything new to the car (he saw my new fogs, etc) i told him the only thing i could think that would drain power would be when i pulled the relay to make my 12v plugs stay on without the car being turned on, but nothing is plugged in them. He said that would probably do it....Anyone that has done this mod have you had these issues? Also let's assume that the light issues are caused by my alternator, what would be causing my shift issue? I have already checked my brake lights an fuses and they are all ok so we can rule that out.

Im still thinking it could be your brake light switch. Have someone check for codes in your abs ecu.

Thanks for taking the time to explain your comments. I think for the most part we're in agreement of how these systems work. As for the rest, it's probably just semantics. I tend to get over concerned with technicalities when electrical systems are discussed...

Just an update, the problem ended up being that the computer could not communicate with the O2 sensors. After buzzing out all the circuits, the problem existed in the physical connection between the male and female plug on the O2 sensor and the wire tethered to the car. It seems that it was shorted. So, 3 mechanics (2 different "stealerships", 1 import specialist) later, 2 O2 sensors, and buzzing out the connections, the problem was solved. My word of advise that many of you already practice; find a real mechanic. The sales people at the dealerships want to charge stupid amounts of money for problems that don't even exist. The V8 is silky smooth once more :driving:

You sir are correct it was my brake light switch. and sorry i am just now replying been busy, but thought incase anyone else has these issues they could see this is the problem solver.
