P0500 code, 2000 4Runner SR5 Auto

What up all? I have done the research on here and everywhere else but could not find similar symptoms as others.

I have a p0500 check engine light on. Vehicle speed sensor A malfunction.

The tranny shifts good and the speedometer works fine. I have replaced the no. 2 speed sensor on the tranny and the CEL still comes on. Also,the cruise control does not work...

The pics I’ve posted is a freeze frame from the computer reader and hopefully it has some clues

FSM states it is a 2 trip detection logic fault and that it results from no speed sensor signal under the following conditions:
For auto trans: park/neutral position switch is off and vehicle is being driven
For manual trans: engine speed is between 1800 and 3500 rpm
FSM states trouble areas as:
Speedometer cable
Open or short in speed signal circuit
ECM

There is a diagnostic procedure outlined in the FSM.

If the speedometer is working, the speedo circuit can be ruled out. Since you didn't mention the speedo not working, I'm guessing your problem isn't there. It then moves on to checking voltage of terminal SP1 of the ECM connector and body ground when one rear wheel is jacked up, trans in neutral and rear wheel spinning slowly. Voltage between the SP1 terminal on the E12 connector (wire harness side) and body ground should be between 4 and 6 volts. If you are getting no voltage, there is a short somewhere on that wire. If you are getting that voltage, it states ECM failure and to replace it.

Let me know if you need any clarification. ECM is behind the glove box.

I have did all these test and all came back good... recently replaced the ECM and still have the code! I was getting voltage when I spin the rear wheels from the SP1 terminal.

I'm lost, been battling this code for a while now. Any more ideas appreciated!

The freeze frame says you are running under load at 0km/hr. Looks like the speed signal is dropping out - sounds like it is intermittent if your tests are coming back ok. If the signal drop is momentary, you might not see it on the speedometer. You have replaced the sensor - have you looked closely at the connectors & wiring harness? Wiggle & pull during the testing.
