P0705 issue. PNP switch.

Hey everyone.
I have a 2019 Limited with about 53,000 miles on it.
About a week ago my wife was driving the vehicle and she said the D on the dash wasn’t displaying. I’m not sure if it went away while she was driving or if it was like that when she started the vehicle.

Eventually the CEL came on. I got the vehicle scanned and the only code was P0705 and the suggested solution was to replace the PNP switch so I got a new one and put it in.

After replacing the switch I found information online on how to clear the CEL so I did that. When I started the vehicle and shifted into drive the D wouldn’t show at all. When I shifted into sport mode the S would show for less than a second and disappear. I tried disconnecting the negative battery cable for 10 minutes and testing the vehicle again but the D still isn’t showing and the S disappears still.

I don’t think I’ve driven it enough yet for the CEL to come back on, but I’m assuming it will. I’m wondering if maybe there’s an issue with the wiring or at the connection on the other end of the cable from the actual switch or in whatever receives the signal from the PNP switch, but I have no idea where that wiring runs back to and can’t find any information on that.

Here's link to a video with the same issue but in a Camry, but it's in a foreign language, it's does have English subtitles that's a little hard to keep up with because it goes so fast so you may have to view/rewind it several times, in short in the end he found it was caused by a bad fuse, hopefully you will find the same.

Thanks for the link! I searched all over YouTube but couldn’t find anything that helped. Every video I found was just how to replace the switch.

Checked all the fuses, at least all that I could find. The ones in the engine bay and down near the pedals in the drivers foot well. Now my turn signals arenÂ’t working.
Hazards work just no blinkers????

Another thing I want to mention, I’m not sure what it’s called, but the sensors that alert you if you’re getting to close to objects around the car haven’t worked for a couple years now. They worked great when I bought the car 3 years ago but one day I noticed the car stopped beeping at me when I was getting to close to things.

Not sure if that’s at all related.

re: parking sensors. when you push the dash button to on, does it light up or stay dark? are the sensors in fact plugged in at the rear bumper. anyone take off the rear bumper or do any mods requiring the dash to come down and could have not plugged them back in? are these sensors OEM or aftermarket?

UPDATE! Problem solved.

The vehicle was due for an inspection this month so I took it to a local shop and explained what I did and what’s going on.

The person who worked on it was able to figure it out. Apparently the switch wasn’t positioned correctly and just needed a little tweak.

I had the vehicle in neutral when I installed the switch which is what I read online was the way to do it. So somewhere I didn’t do something correctly but I’m happy that’s all it was and nothing else needed to be replaced.
