His main problem, aside from no lockers, improper tires and a weak diff, is not knowing what he is doing. To continue to take the same approach to an obstacle and have the same results is showing his lack of off road experience and training.
I know I'm making assumptions here, but I don't see any reason he couldn't have taken a different angle of approach.
The hummer is an adequate vehicle and this should be looked at, "in my humble opinion" as an example of the importance of learning, not only your vehicles capabilities off road, but how to drive off road. Could he have made this without carnage, yes. Could a stock 4x4 4Runner, yes. You simply need to know how to approach an obstacle and when things get dicey, stop...think...and if that doesn't work try a different approach. When all else fails, pull out the folding chair and a cold drink and enjoy the scenery.

. Look at the video again, approx 4min 50sec through 5min 10sec. It looks to me as if the t-case may have broken.
