Painting my new Savage Off-Road bumpers

I'm partial to the POR-15 prep and paint. Especially in the great salt plains. Then topcoat with Rustoleum Hi-Temp outdoor grill paint.

How many cans of paint am I going to need? The place Im going to go to do the painting does not have an auto parts store nearby...

I bought about 6 cans each of primer and paint.

I rattle canned my savage rear bumper and skids right when I got them. Used a good cleaner, then self etching primer (2 coats), then rustoleum bed liner in a can (4 coats). I was too cheap to go the powder coating route and I knew I was going to continually scratch them up so it works but definitely have to set it's not the best. I'm going to have to touch everything up pretty soon here cause they're getting rusty at spots... In the end it will cost more to rattle it with all the touch up paint I'll have to keep doing but it works...

This is the second picture I've seen on T4R in the last week or so of someone grinding with no eye/face protection at all.

It's completely my opinion but I think you guys are nuts.

Your not alone on that one...
I knew a guy who once used a zip disc without the guard or a face shield on. The disc shattered at 10000 RPM, a piece flew off and sliced his neck open.

That's my buddy. I don't know anything about welding or grinding for that matter.

Progress and problems. The bumpers are painted but the stock bumper hardware is so rusted and corroded we couldn't get it off with the time and tools we had. We're going to plan on starting on it early on a Saturday around the holidays... Wish me luck.

Those look awesome all painted up! Since its the first coat (meaning your not covering up paint that was already there ) it should hold up well.

Sorry I've been trying to get around to mounting mine but need to find time and a friend or two to help. I have the license plate light wiring all ready to go so it's just a matter of doing the heavy stuff. Once I get it mounted I will post pics.
