Painting thoughts

Okay, so, after replaced my rear hatch earlier this year, I decided, to play with paint. I painted the hatch a Utility/Tan/Khaki color, with red emblems. Looks great, got lots of compliments. Got a week off unexpectedly, with nothing to do. I have plenty of the paint still, and gonna do the grill, hood and front fenders, body will get finished later.
Question is this, I am already going with a classic FJ type color, and thinking white roof also. Currently, truck is black, which sucks in Florida heat, and I have no aircon, which I ain't fixing anytime soon, beisides, windows down is great. I was thinking the white roof would help cut down some of the heat inside.
Thoughts, ideas, concerns, approvals, disprovals? This is all lead up to experimenting before purchasing a 2002 in the upcoming summer, this truck is going to become my farm ride anyways.

I agree that you should definitely post some pics so we can get a better idea of what you're thinking. Maybe some of us can photoshop your idea so you'll get a visual of it.

Sorry for off-topic reply, but brother, I feel your pain; I lived in Miami for 3 years and drove an '89 Toy 4x4 PU w/ no A/C... man that sucked hard...

Yea, I'm in FLL right now, winter is fantastic, but I'm in the Panhandle most summers, and it gets brutal, triple digits with 95% humidity, makes it Real Feel at 120* some days and sticky as can be.

are we painting our trucks to match our firearms now? let's see some OD green as well then! haha, no seriously, i want to see pics of both dark earth and OD green, :hatsoff:

It actually looks much better than I was expecting. And are the wheels also khaki? I don't really like the red though. I think black emblems on the hatch and a khaki emblem on the grill would look better.

The rims are GM Pewter, DupliColor BGM0490, it's almost a bronze color

Alot of this is playing perfecting the next runner, I've had 3 different goes at the rims, expensive playing like this, but next year will be a 4WD 2002 Sport. I'll have most of this stuff professionally done.

Your suggestion of the grill got me thinking......

Utility body, white roof, and instead of black accents, dark leather brown. Do the fender flares, bumpers, in brown Rhino Liner, brown grill, door handles, mirrors, B-Pillar, roof rack and bronze or white Tundra Rims? I gotta go with the little red pieces though, maybe Utility FJ Toyota on a Satoshi with red center and then the FJ 4WD emblem out back, no other identification.

I guess, I am trying to do something more retro, I been looking at that ICON FJ44 and it is sick. Sure, I don't have the cash to buy one, but I can build something just as crazy! I would like to think I can be original and pay homage to those who came before.

can someone that is good at photo shop change my runner to that dark earth aka dessert tan please:guitar2:

I'm digging this side shot. Sorry I couldn't post anything better of my own, but maybe someone could use the color on my upside down hatch on that. Whole body that color, fender flares Dark Earth, white top?

Actually, I was thinking, Dark Earth? Not sure of that color, I am thinking it's kinda a mud hole brown color? so it would be two tone?
