parking brake won't release then...

Parking brake had been weak so last week I had the parking brake adjusted at a shop. The "pin" inside was broken on the left one so they replaced the left one and adjusted the right one, also the cable. First they had it too tight that even when parking brake was off on an incline, the 4runner won't move. Also the rear wheel rims were hot after a short drive. So I went back and they adjusted the cable again.

The parking pedal then felt much looser, similar to how it felt before the whole thing. The parking brake holds the 4runner on incline though, as long as I step down deep on the parking pedal.

So I parked the 4runner, on level ground, engaged the parking brake by habit. A few days later, however, when I started the 4runner, it won't move, not forward nor back out. When I put a bit gas on when backing out, it felt that the right rear wheel was stuck. After trying a few more times, when I was trying to go forward, I heard a sound like something was released or broken. Then the 4runner moved. I drove it in the neighborhood and tried brake parking on incline and it seems that everything is fine.

My wife refuse to ride in it though...So here's the question: Does anyone have similar experience and what could be the problem? Should I take it back to the shop again?

Yes, when you have work done on your ride and you're having related issues within a short time span you should always take it back to have them correct the issue/s!!

I had a similar issue. I ended up going by the rear wheel and tugging on the ebrake line going into the rear drum and I heard it "pop" and disengaged the ebrake. I ended up just rebuilding both drum brakes and have not had any issues since. I do believe, if memory serves correct, that one of the pins holding the brake shoe was sheared.
