parting out '88 (engine and hood all destroyed) good everything else

Sadly, this is my first post... I just got an 88 4runner two months ago and before I had a chance to do much to it the engine caught on fire. I just stood there helpless and watched my baby burn. Its a shame, because the body was in great condition.

If anyone is looking for doors, the removable roof, tailgate, original wheels, rear seat, etc etc etc let me know. The rear bumper was aftermarket but it is pretty much brand new. The paint was in good shape, all black. I'll take pictures of anything you may be interested in. Just ask!

I would feel so much better if I knew my truck was living on by giving new life to other 4runners instead of getting one of those junker car pickups to tow it for scrap.

Not too sure about any prices yet, I'm very negotiable. The truck was towed to my house, in Crofton, Md. Please ask if you have any questions!

I'll have pics posted in a couple hours. It was dark last night when I made the original post. And yes, I would be interested in selling the entire truck. Once I get the pics up take a look and make an offer. I will try and get the good and the bad of everything. No, not a v6. But it was a 5-speed.

Wow. That was a really nice truck. Were you driving it at the time or was it parked? Had you recently done any electrical work on it? Did the firefighters give you any idea of what could have happened? This isn't the first 1st Gen I've heard of burning. Pulling mine out of attached garage now...

I was driving it down the highway and the engine stalled. A few seconds after I stopped on the side of the road a flame crept out from under the hood on the passenger side. I just stood and watched it get bigger and bigger as the firetrucks showed up. The only work that had been done recently was a new alternator about 2 weeks prior. I think maybe the gas line got detached from the engine? Who knows, its too much of a mess under the hood to be able to tell now.
