Parts rig, Tailgate issue

So I began the tear down of my '87 parts rig, to jazz up my '85 4runner. I need the tailgate, or at least the mechanicals, (latches and handle) but I can't get the rear window to go down so I can open the tailgate (I hate that part of the design).
I put in a good battery but the switch doesn't seem to work, for the window. Can I get it down if I try accessing it from inside with tailgate up? Or will I have to lift off topper?
I am considering just smashing the rear window, as I have a softopper, but my buddy may want to hang onto the window for his 4runner.
Argh!
I did swap the grill though, so I got Something done.

if your motor still works then you can apply 12vdc to the plug going to the motor and it will take your window up or down depending on the polarity.

done this a dozen times while trying to fix my rear window..

Also. I had this issue a ton. That design is temperamental...

from inside, you can pop the panel off and get into it and physically pull the window from the track and push it up or down.

Great. Thanks fellas! Back to it tonight. Gotta get the parts truck dissasembled ASAP to make room in the garage to bend bumpers. Too many hogs fer my pen!!!
