Parts?

Hello All! I'm new to the Toyota world, but not the 4x4 world. I have been strongly considering building a 1st Gen (if I can ever find one). My project would be more of a restoration than a dedicated wheeler. So, just thinking ahead about how possible this is, are there any reproduction or OEM Toyota part companies out there that sell every little piece of the truck?
Most of my old trucks were GM and using LMC Truck Parts & Truck Accessories for Chevy, GMC, Ford & Dodge Trucks | LMCTruck.com and other companies, you could easily build the entire truck down to the smallest factory detail. I mean, anything from body pannels to factory decals to an original ashtray could be found easily with the GM stuff.
Does anything like this exist for Yotas...specifically 1st Gens?...Thanks

Not yet. It's coming, because these trucks are getting more collectible, but right now the majority of owners are still using and abusing them. There are OEM-replica parts to be found here and there - Toyotafiberglass.com is working on interior panels, for example, but most stuff you'll need to get second hand and refurbish.

Well, thats not the answer I was hoping for, but I appreciate the info. That Toyota Fiber Glass place seems decent for exterior and the prices seem pretty fair.

quite a few companies sell steel replacement body panels, but there's just not much available for restoration parts. If you want to modify your truck for Offroading there's tons of aftermarket stuff available.

I'm leaning more towards a restoration project. Possible small lift but the goal would be to make it look like it did new. I'm not against wheeling or having dedicated rigs for it. I've had my share of 4x4's but the off-road scene is not great in south Louisiana. Off-road here basicly means "mud riding", which doesn't really exicte me anymore. The biggest issue with it though is, unless you own the land here, you are basicly breaking the law as soon as you leave the pavement.

Your best bet is to pick up a rust free model and if it needs parts then source them from salvage yards. 1st gens are not at the stage of say fj40s so its an easy and enjoyable project once you get a good initial sample. There seems enough out there even if the price seem high but they can only increase in value.
