Pedal Commander vs Sprint Booster

I got the Sprint Booster. Its controller is tiny, very easy to mount with Velcro on top of a switch blank.
Once I dialed in the setting I like I rarely change it. I have no need for any iPhone Bluetooth control.

I second the sprint booster, set it and forget it. easy install, I put mine thought the blank switch panel on lower left of steering column, snapped the cover plate back in place and used double sided tape to secure the SB controller. Looks nice, small footprint and works great. I was on 5 sport (green) but on highway it makes it jump gear too easy when you try to pass. I'm on 3 sport (green) now and it's perfect for my driving (city and highway). I consider one of my best upgrades.

I've sold just about every throttle controller there is the Sprint Booster is the safest unit there is with the best track record. It's patented (made in greece, not china) and has won multiple Sema show awards. I've actually removed the other brands from our site because they would die out randomly while driving and I don't like selling anything unsafe. There are also other cool features on most don't know about. The valet and pedal lock features. Valet mode lets you set a certain rpm, say 3,500 and the truck will not go over that RPM. Saves people from joy riding that may have you car when it's at the shop, etc. Pedal lock lets you lock out the gas pedal. Say someone got your keys or tried to steal the truck. If they get it started, the pedal is fully disabled and they can't go anywhere! I had a customer who was pilot with a 16 yr old daughter... Everytime he went out of town, she would find the keys (after he hid them) and take the truck out with her friends. This happened multiple times. He bought the booster so this couldn't happen anymore. That's not really the reason to buy one, but it definitely gives much more security. I use it if I'm in a hotel or amd parked at an airport for peace of mind.

Sprint Booster for t4r members and am offering a 5 year warranty on it. With any electronic item, sometimes things can happen, and you're covered.

Below is for those that may choose to mount the controller. Again, you don't have to plug it in if you don't want to. You can set it and forget it, and leave it in the glove box if you ever want to adjust later, but once you set it, you don't really need to change.

Install on my 18 4Runner was a piece of cake
As you can see from picture I used a blank plate and drilled a hole for Cable to fit, very clean
Not sure why 10 min Waite on 4Runner with door open, but I followed instructions
System works great and noticeable throttle response improvement
Stated with green 5 tried 9 then switched to red 9
That’s pretty much where it will stay
One install tip, I used a skinny dowl to feed controller wire
I’ll give the system a 5stars
Does what it says it will do

Is the current one for the 4Runner the version 3 and will you be offering any Black Friday or Cyber Monday specials?

Thanks

I consider one of my best upgrades.

After playing with the various setting choices, I also settled on Sport 3.

It now feels just right, with good throttle response, without a touchy or overly sensitive feel.

This is how it should have come from the factory.

I set it and forgot all about it...

Throttle Controller

I have a new 2022 4Runner. Has anyone put a throttle controller in this year yet. I called the Sprint Booster company and they said, "they haven't tested it in the 2022 yet". Anyone have one installed, or another model like the Pedal Controller or GiddyUp versions?

We specialize in these trucks and I have installed the Sprint Booster in a few customers 2022's already. I have the updated ones with newest firmware. I also sell the pc, but have removed it from our website due to too many issues and some burning out in 2 years. This is now why I give the Sprint Booster a 5 Year Warranty, which NO ONE else does. Peace of mind. ORDER BELOW

I have the Sprint Booster and more then satisfied with how improved pedal response is. I leave in Sport 3 or Sport 4 and turn off when off road.

Just a guess if know one has both units to complete comparison

I ditto this user's response, same settings on mine, having it makes it a much more enjoyable pedal experience, and YES it does make a difference, my best upgrade. Set it and forget it, I just don't see having to adjust the setting, too high and your tranny will always be hunting gears. I ran mine through the switch blank on the lower left of the dash. Looks great down there with the colored led numbers but never touch it. Love the SB.....

I've been running the Sprint Booster on my '21 TRD Pro since new. Zero problems. I consider a good throttle controller like the SB a must for this car. If you need the sluggish throttle response the factory programmed in for off road running you can have it any time you like by just turning the unit off. It's provides a very tangible enhancement in the driving experience that takes minutes to install, leaves no footprint if removed and can be dialed up or down as much as you want. Thank you SB!

New customer

On my second 4Runner- 2019 TRD PRO. I didn’t miss the terrible lag in the skinny peddle. Looking forward to giving this a try- thanks to those members who shared their positive feedback! Order placed…..

Yep, the SB is my favorite out of all the options out there. Not only are they the company that invented the technology, it is by far the safest/smallest design out there. And I give it a 5 year warranty.

Thanks for the reply. It's hands down a night and day difference.

Good deal. Many seem to like the green 7-9 setting in the 5th gen. Most of my customers have them set there.

Also don't forget the 2 options for the pedal lock and valet mode. It's an awesome built in security feature where you can lock the gas pedal out, and limit the rpm level for service techs or people that want to joy ride when you're not around.

this offer still on the table? trying to order from your link, but it seems the paypal link isn't working. is there another way besides through CC?

This looks like something I would enjoy installing.
I just drove a corolla for a month. Throttle response was bad. Not comparing 4runner to it, but these fly by wire throttles are controlled via ecm...
Waiting on email response about offer for 5 year warranty etc.

Ive had my Sprint Booster from Jason for 2 years now; no issues at all. I keep mine on level 6 :)

Glad you like it. It really is a gamechanger on these trucks. I just installed one on a customers truck this weekend and tried to do a little video to show how simple the install is. Don't laugh at my poor youtube skills. Dodds - try texting or calling me. Order link below

Put mine in today. Set it at 8 green. Definitely a difference. Of course, I have only had the car for a day, and had the fuel pump recall in this morning. But, works very good.

Background:
I installed my Spring Booster about 4 weeks ago. It is installed on a 2014 Limited with 135,000 miles on it. Install was easy once I figured how to get the clip to release on the wiring to the factory pedal.
Like many others - for the controller placement -I used the spot that is indented below the start button - right side of the steering wheel. As recommended I routed the wiring away from the metal tube that carries hot fluid to the system that provides heated air into the passenger compartment........ (that metal tube gets hot and the recommendation was to avoid having the cables against the metal tubing)
I did not drill a hole for the cable to pass thru (yet) My plan was to not commit to this placement until I used it for a while. The cable is snaked thru the gap between the bottom of the steering column and the plastic part below it.
So there is an exposed cable, but I will re-route it for permanent placement next weekend.

Driving Experience - What changes? (2800 miles later)
As many have commented it feels like a different experience because the throttle response feels directly aligned to the actuation of the pedal. I was shocked at how different it feels during mild and 1/4 acceleration. The transmission shifts are similar or close to the same as you take off. What really is improved is that a lighter touch will get the transmission to down shift when you want to go a bit faster or during passing....but it's smooth and feels like a more fluid range of acceleration / power.
Some felt that the exact same thing happens if you just push the stock set up "harder" - that's not my experience.......the push harder, lag, and then power thing is GONE...... i am sure if you floor it the performance does not change- but I don't drive that way.

I have not figured out what setting to use....... "green 7" seemed to actuate transmission downshifts too soon / often and hold the gear too long.......so I am running "green 6"....... for almost 4 weeks and while I may try some other settings "green 6" seems to work well for me.

One more thing:
I took delivery of a new TRD PRO. My wife drives that one. After driving both she asked me "if we could add the same level of performance to her TRD PRO".........comical, I told her we would after the break in period. BTW she asked me what I bought from Bertman industries for $300? (that's the cost with shipping). I told her that was the added smoothness thing we did to the 2014..... She runs a tight ship (CPA) but this upgrade was not only noticed but also now approved by her........ha

Hope this helps
