Saw this video - it's a pretty well controlled experiment comparing various penetrating oils and thought it was relevant for this forum....having driven my T4R in the mid-west for 18 years, I deal with busting rust on almost every job. FYI....the winner was not Kroil or PB Blaster....

I didn't watch it either. Just pulled the info from the summary:

Results: Liquid Wrench came out on top, following by ATF/Acetone, Royal Purple, WD-40, PB Blaster, and AeroKroil.
 
Kroil is just 50/50 atf and acetone. I make my own. Kroil is good nun the less.

I used to use Liquid Wrench back in the day and switched to PB Blaster some years ago. I was considering trying Kroil which is why I was doing some research but....just went out and bought some Liquid Wrench! What goes around, comes around. Unfortunately, there is no silver bullet. I now have an oxy-acetylene rig which I use when the penetrating oil doesn't work but I still end up having to use the drill way more often than I would like - mostly when I get impatient.

Kroil is not the same as ATF + acetone. A quick look at the SDSs shows there is stuff in Kroil that would not exist in ATF or acetone.

Seems like a cool idea if you’ve got it all off and in a vise like that. I’d probably just weld a nut to it and let the heat from that do the trick.

I feel like whenever I’m dealing with stuck fasteners I’m always laying on my back with my arm at some weird awkward angle working upside down.

Figure if you're going to heat with a torch, wouldn't be hard to rub a little wax on too (birthday candles, etc). A lot less messy than spraying with PB or ? I always end up with more of it on everything else than the nut I'm try to free up.

This is the way to go! My father in law show me this trick a few years ago, and it works better than anything I've tried.

Nothing beats not having to use oxy/ace anymore because you moved to Cali. lol

I do not miss wrenching on rust at all. Map gas was the go to and usually did the trick. If not out came the big tanks and the big breaker bar. Slow steady heat and slow steady pressure would do the trick 90% of the time. The other 10% you'd snap the bolt head or stud and get out the drill. lol
