Saw this video - it's a pretty well controlled experiment comparing various penetrating oils and thought it was relevant for this forum....having driven my T4R in the mid-west for 18 years, I deal with busting rust on almost every job. FYI....the winner was not Kroil or PB Blaster....

Best way to test a penetrating lube is to fill a 12oz styrofoam cup with water and spray
If the bottom of the cup dissolves it penetrates. The faster it dissolves the better the penetrant.
Out here in Cali we can’t get the good stuff but non of the stuff that you can buy over the counter works very well
Industrial stuff is always the best way to go.
Kimball Midwest is the best stuff I have found, it literally feels like it’s burning your nose hairs and lungs when you spray it.
It’s instant gratification non of this 3-4 coats per hour or over weeks or days.
Can’t get the real stuff out here in Cali but I our sales rep sneaks in a can or three every box we order.

Well, for my situation it was inconclusive I would say. I feel the wax worked but couldn't say 100%. Heated the rear O2 studs and put a little wax on them. the nuts got gacked up and rounded off anyway. Went with vice grips but the jaws were too big to allow to turn. Ended up trying some real cheap needle nose ones from HF and the nuts turned real easy, surprised the hell out of me. Figured I was on the road to a real pain in the... at that point. Front ones, even though rusted real bad came off without any trouble.

So far nothing is working on the rear diff fill plug, will end up having to weld a nut to it.

screw commi-fonr-i-a, mix up your own slurry. I've used the acetone/AFT mixture for 2 decades, it works at least as good as any commercial product and it's cheap to make.

Dissolving styrene plastic is a good demonstration of it's ability dissolve styrene plastic.

Every mechanic in the rust belt is laughing at the idea of Californians needing to to use penetrating oil on their cars. Better yet, smuggling it in? Dead laughing.

I switched to kroil years ago and it failed me only once. The bolt did not break but the head rounded off (upper rear shock bolts on cherokee). IMO kroil is da shit.

Kroil with an impact gun got mine off and it looked horrible. I used a half a bottle of anti-sieze when I screwed it back on.

Love my Kroil regardless. It has unfrozen stuff that the others couldn't touch. LR is good stuff though.

Ditto that. AeroKroil has never failed me on anything. It has actually rescued me when my temper and patience were exhausted and I was on the verge of giving up. I have added a touch of a torch once or twice but it has always worked.
