Perfect stance or not???

So I think I want to give her a little rake and see what she looks like. My dilemma is that I don't have the factory pressed in bolts that mount the strut assembly to the mounting point on the 4runner....... Does anyone have theirs lying around that I could possibly have? There's 3 per side, plus the nuts that go on top. I'll pay shipping of course.

So you're running the extended length bolts? These are not required (and are not included) when you purchase the 1/4" spacer. Worse case scenario you can just keep the extended length bolts even without the 1/4" spacers, no harm there. If you sell the spacers, the buyer shouldn't need the extended length studs. If this bothers you, you can get the factory length studs from Wheelers Off Road for $12 + shipping (not sure how this compares to buying from the dealer).

Why not use the OME rear trim spacer? Instead of lowering the front 1/2", this will raise the rear 1/2" (well, .39" to be exact). The install would be much easier and you'd have pretty much the same result. The spacer can be purchased for $30 + shipping from Toytec (plus 5% forum discount).

Ark,

Thanks for the response for starters. I wasnt aware I could re use the extended studs, now that I know I can I will def do so.

There are a couple reasons I cant just raise the back, for startes it BARELY fits in out garage as is right now. The second reason is that I have a DS 1.5" spacer already on the drivers side only to combat the lean on that side that everyone seems to have.

I keep going back and forth on if I just want to leave it as is or pull the front spacer, obviously whichever I decide will only take time and I can change it later if I need to. Another option I have would be to add airbags in the rear coils for those few times I do carry much weight back there. Decisions decisions........

Again I want to thank everyone for the kind words and helpul replies.

Zach

Is < 1/2" going to be the difference between fitting in the garage and not? Wouldn't think so, but it's possible as tall as yours is. Judging by your sig, I thought you were already running the rear air bags.

It looks great as is. The only reason I mention a little rake is to offset the weight when you're loaded. I believe the OME trim spacers goes on top of the rubber isolator, so it should be compatible with the Daystar rear spacer you're currently running on the driver side.

I know both Toytec and Wheelers Off Road do not sell extended length bolts with the 1/4" top plate spacer. You can definitely pull the front spacer, shouldn't take long since you're familiar with the process. I personally wouldn't want to start lowering things after lifting, but in your situation with the garage this may be the best option. As you mentioned, wouldn't cost anything but time to give it a try.

Ha, well as it sits not I have 1/4" clearance to our garage door. It's that close with the rola rack, body lift etc. I pulled the airbags when I went to my ome stuff so I def need to update my sig. The ome spacers might work though so I'll look into them. As you said it would def be easier to go that route than completely taking apart my front coils etc.

Yea, at 1/4" clearance currently, the OME rear spacer may be a bust. So, do you have the Rola or the Thule rack? If you have the Rola, are you using the mounts that came with it? I know someone on 120 has gotten new mounts to make it sit lower, that may be an option if you don't already have them.

I have both racks lol. Told you I can't leave things alone! When camdz sold his 4runner I got the rola so cheap I couldn't pass it up. I do have the ATO mounts the guy on 120 sold.

So you're sure the extended bolts will work? That would make pulling the spacers out sooooo much easier.

Haha, makes better sense now!

Why wouldn't the extended bolts work? There will be more thread showing, but definitely no downside to that. If you sell the spacers, the buyer will not need the extended bolts. I just ordered the top plate spacers from Toytec, they confirmed that the extended length bolts are not required for the install of the 1/4" thick spacer.

They aren't threaded all the way down the shaft if that makes sense. When I'm tightening them down I don't want to run out of thread and get into the non threaded part.......hope that makes sense.

It's been a while since I pulled my spacers, best I can remember they were threaded all the way down. Since yours aren't, that puts a new spin on this. Still may be fine, but you might want to get a stock set just to be safe.

Right, it'll be easy enough to find out though. If I need to switch the bolts out then I might just leave it as is. If the extended ones work I'll try pulling the spacers out.

Btw I thought you were the suspension guru! JK

So Zach, what did you end up doing?

If I have time i'm going to try and pull the front spacers tonight and see if the extended bolts I currently have will work. If not it'll have to wait till I have time to get the strut assembly taken apart. If it works i'll update this with pics tonight!

:driving:

Seriously? Four pages?

Just pull the spacers and see how it looks. If you don't like it put em back.

If that's not enough use your new XD to shoot out the front tires (assuming the 9mm will penetrate the sidewalls), that'll give it some rake.

edit- be sure and post pics!

hahaha thats how i am too, need 3 pages to decide what tires to go with.... Well if you put that Rola on and just love it, id love to take the Thule off your hands:thumb3: and i dunno, those Springfields are lacking in the tire puncturing department.... Now a Smith and Wesson, that ought to do the trick for ya... haha only kidding:hatsoff:

Sorry for the junk iPhone pics, better ones will follow.

I think I do too. I'll know more after running some errands today and see it in the daylight. I can honestly say that 1/2" less of lift makes it drive a ton better considering my uca's are factory.
