performance engine build, need some help

hey, So recently i decided to rebuild my 1988 4runner 22re engine that had 305xxx on the clock. I wanted to beef it up a bit by putting on a header, bigger cam, as well as porting and polishing the head, by a guy who does great work and actually has a flow table to test it on. So heres my problem. the machining shop called me to notify me that the head was cracked! (i guess its a common problem between the exhaust valve port and the coolant channel..?) something like that. anyway, I just need some help figuring out my options here, so let me know what you think:

1) get the head welded, machined, polished ported, cam (this sounds like to much for a broken head)

2) buy a new head, lc engineering pro head? (if anyone has experience with these I could really use the advice) Pro Cylinder Head w/Camshaft - 22R/RE (85-95)

3) does anyone have a used performance head that they want to sell?

honestly, originally i didnt want to spend more than 800 on the whole engine.. and this would of been possible because im getting the machining basically free. but now just the head is looking to cost me 1000 bucks! any ideas? thanks

I have the Street RV head from engnbldr and I'm loving it! I also have a 268 cam and their rebuild kit. They have excellent customer service and will spend as much time as you need on the phone answering your questions. The folks at LCE Performance are great guys too! But bang for the buck you cannot beat engnbldr.

thanks heaps for the feedback guys.. yea i did a lot of searching and reading about this engnbldr head, and everyone whos got one loves it! .... so i bought one with the 268 cam thanks for the help guys
