Personal Spy Photos of 5th Gen...I think!!!!

I was driving near LAX on the 405 and pulled up behind this...thing. I was in my wife's TSX..hence the lower level shots. But I'm pretty sure that this is a 4Runner. The taillights were actually 03-05s and were sticking out from the body like they were a last minute add on in order to drive it.

It's definitely bigger than the 4th gen...but not so big that it's a Sequoia.

The headlights look a bit like those on an FJ Cruiser. The truck also looks boxier than an 03-09.

Yes, that definitely looks like the 2010 4Runner. You can see the "added on" '03-'05 style tailights. It looks like the projector headlights might be history.

I also like that the stance looks to be back to the way it was on the 3rd gen, meaning the tires are pretty much flush with the fenders, instead of tucked deep inside like on the '06 and newer 4Runners.

yes, it was definitely boxier. the overall shape (at least from what i could tell) was similar to the new Honda Pilot shape. but those black panels do a good job of covering details up.

Even under the panels, you can see that the back window is relatively vertical, instead of slanted like most other SUVs. And of course that's good news for those of us who love the retracting rear window. I would have been so disappointed if the 2010 4Runner had a fixed rear window.

It also looks like the extreme rake of the 4th gen is history on the 5th gen, which is definitely a good thing. There's still a little rake, but nothing like the 4th gens.

The wheels wells are no longer round. They definitely have a pronounced flat portion along the top, which reminds me of earlier 4Runners or even several years of the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

I don't like the tail pipe, the non retractable antenna, or the wheel wells. I think it would also look better with running boards.

I'm liking the wheels though.

Those look like older Tundra or Tacoma (not sure which) 6 bolt wheels that they throw on as part of the camo. Front lights also look like camo using FJC parts.

The front looks like it might have the latest standardized Highlander/Sequoia trapazoid type nose work happening. The rear has a spoiler with the shark fin antennae above. Smaller mirrors going back to 3rd Gen look. Lower hanging spare (to make room for the fold flat 3rd row we heard about) may effect the departure angle.

Looks like a solid rear axle to me. If you look to the left of the spare tire there's an extra curve that looks like the diff.

It also looks like the yellow DRL's are history as well. I really hope that the mast antenna doesn't make its return on the 2010 4Runner.

it was a white woman. haha...i started to feel like a tourist taking the pics. but the whole time i was by the truck i was thinking "man, the guys on the forum are gonna freak when they see these shots!!"

That's the same truck I have seen posted on multiple forums over the last couple months. One of our members who no longer posts here made a thread about it on the "other" forum with pictures.

Seems that most "hope" it's the next 4Runner. We shall see.
