I think getting a gate or something to secure them it's essential. Firstly, it will help you maintain your calm while driving. And secondly, it will increase the pet's security, and as you'd mentioned, it is crucial. I have a few covers and gates, and I switch them depending on the season. In the beginning, I had no idea how useful they were until, one day, I was scrolling through cutepetcare.com, and I found a super interesting article. The author emphasized the importance of these details for pets. Of course, I bought a gate right away, andthen I realized what they were talking about.

NICE GSPs!!! My pointing griffon and GSP lay in the back seat on a surplus Army wool blanket with no problem. My GSP (like your smaller one) is getting up in years and can't get in the "Beast" too well. The Griffon loves rides and stays in the back pretty well (She goes back when reminded).

Still, I need this too. Using a pet gate sounds like a very good idea. I have 2 dogs and a cat so I totally understand your situation. When I take my kitty to the vet, I always use a cat carrier because she is an Exotic and they don’t do well under stress and are very shy. So it’s important to create a safe space for her. Moreover, exotic shorthair cat is a special breed that needs a proper care. And it looks like having a pet gate is also a good idea. One of my dogs is an Akita Inu and is full of energy. What will I do if he tries to jump out of the car? I don’t know. I want all my pets to be as safe as possible. Life is unpredictable, and I worry about them more than about myself.
