I can get a steak from the supermarket, but it always tastes better when cooked by someone who does it for a living.
Plus, I wouldn't trust a steak I cooked myself in a rollover.
That's why people like me and the minnow man have an advantage cause we have the know how to make things right.
and if you cant trust your self I recommend not doing anything yourself... probably move into a nursing home... lol
On the flip side, there's only one way to learn... Research how to do it and practice.

I'm sure "the minnow man" appreciates you speaking to his fabrication skills, as I trust most of us here are competent at turning wrenches to some extent.
My concern was geared towards his desire to have a third row of seats, which is a lot of passengers to be responsible for. A cage isn't like a little bumper or slider project, because it you roll/flop a rig with 6 people in it, you better have confidence in your abilities.
I have no idea what either of your resumes look like. For all I know you've built hundreds of cages between the two of you. In my humble opinion, $565 for an expertly engineered cage isn't a bad price.

I wish I had some major updates, but I have been too busy to do SH&% lately. So I finally got a day off. I ordered a new water pump from rockauto.com.
Next I did the bed liner (finally) and started the mock up for the fiberglass.
The tube doors got a fresh up on the paint as well.

I think you should just swap all your 4Runner gear over to the Mr. Two (MR2)--now THAT would be one unique vehicle! Might have to stretch the wheelbase a bit, so it's not constantly rolling over on its head (LOL).

I didn't lose him exactly, I know where he lives. I'm going to make him ride shot gun till he gets tired of being driver's ***** and gets himself another build.
Rockauto.com rocks! I ordered my parts on Wednesday and got them on Friday. Now I just need a day off!

Ok, so I got the water pump installed, everything put make together and..........no start. Gonna pull it apart tomorrow and redo the mechanical timing.
In the meantime, I put the hood back on. Yellow paint on top of bed liner for a textured feel and hopefully scratch resistance.
Imagine anything red being like the hood.

Guess you liked the color of your inspiration truck just as much as the body work and such, huh. At least you'll be easy to find on the trail--just look for the armor-plated banana with big tires (LOL)!
