Phase II, S.S. Minnow build thread

Well it was too dark to post pics last night. Would you have bought this for $200?

Great buy for $200! As for the $2000 you mention making, I take it you mean including what you put out on the rebuild, because I can't see making that in clear profit over what you spend to make it right again--unless your market is really strong for those. What's the year and mileage on it? As with the others, I would strongly recommend going with the full cage as soon as possible, because as KidV pointed out, your truck's roof will flatten like a pancake if you go play and roll it. Best of luck on the car rebuild and sale!

I'm seeing them on CL for $3k to $5k. If I put less than $1000 in to it, that is $2k-$4k profit.

So this weekend in the rainy mountains taught me even more about my Minnow

#1 I love my KM2's!!!

#2 I love low range gears and can't wait for dual cases.

#3 The fender flares stay! I may not really like the look, but they work to keep the water out when the tube doors are on.

#4 Tighten the battery terminals tight before you stop on top of a mountain cliff road and can't start your car.

#5 Get out of the house, the scenery is awesome!

I'm going to have to back you up on every one of those. We're gonna have some fun in Moab, I can tell. :)

Maybe Scottie at AddictedOffroad can come up with a feature on his bumpers in the future, but I like the high lift mounted on the bumper.

Biggest issue I see with the high lift there is that mag chloride, road grime, etc will get all over it and jam/rust the mechanism.

The V6 is ok on gas around town, but push it over 65 on the highway and your mileage will start to suck.

What is you MPG difference since you cut off half of your roof?

It would be cool if we could have a comparison of before and after. Highway vs. city driving too?

To be honest, it hasn't seen much highway driving other than to the trail, so I haven't really followed up on it.

As it moves closer and closer to being a 100%trail only rig, I care less and less about gas mileage. Trail speeds are so slow that it will usually go four days of trails on one tank.

Do you have more power (even though you dont have much to begin with) :)

I have plenty of power, but because of anything I did exactly. Despite all the crap given the 3.0, it is a great engine. I push 35" tires around with stock gearing no problem. That being said, half my engine parts and all of my exhaust are new. I do everything I can to keep it running well.
