I am not trying to belittle what you've done or what you think, but read this carefully.

I think the concern here was that LED lights actually don't put light down on the roadway or ditch as well as Halogen bulbs do. Halogen bulbs are regular filament incandescent bulbs, not HIDs which it seems is what you meant by your statement up top.

LEDs, and HID bulbs for that matter, do an absolutely terrible job at creating usable light in halogen reflector housings, that is what was meant by the "two things that aren't meant to go together" comment. LED bulbs that are diffuse and spread light in your home and bulbs that are specifically tuned and aimed for road driving are not in the same league and are barely playing the same sport.

HIDs are not cheap, but they are not as expensive as everyone seems to believe. If you have simple tools and an oven you can make your very own projector retrofit for under $150 and do everyone on the road a favor.

These photos are my HID projectors vs stock 4Runner lights with Silverstar bulbs. They speak for themselves in both terms of light on the ground and lack of light scattered at other driver's eyes. The settings on the camera were locked so this is a direct comparison.

I know everyone will just do whatever they will want to do, but I implore you to do yourself and everyone else a favor and make the upgrade.

They should make a cutoff divider that cuts the light off from going too high. I like them though.

Recently installed "BEAMTECH H11 9005 9006 H4 H7 H13 LED Headlights Bulbs High Low Beams Fog Lights" purchased off eBay for about $33, super happy so far. Passive cooling so no fan noise, and they have little blinders just like OEM bulbs to control the direction of the light. The LED's are positioned to be in the same place as the original bulb filaments. Cutoff is no different than stock, and noticeably brighter than my tired old halogens. Haven't been flashed once by anyone coming the other direction.

Bought a thin sheet of silicone rubber and made dust boots, attached to the back of the reflectors with hose clamps.

Been waiting for LED's to be good enough, and it seems to have finally happened.
