Being a knucklehead on some rocks hahah I had to hook a strap to my ARB and give him a good pull to get off them.

Damn, well at least you guys had fun! You should hit Jason up to build you some links like ours. I'd build a set for ya, but I don't have the welder or the welding skillz Jason has. Or at least maybe get some LCA skids from Toytec. If you go the skids route and just need a LCA, you can have one of my stockies if you want to just cover the shipping.

If that would work.. then you'd end up with a strong CV it looks like.. and maybe a tad more articulation. Then we'd all have another reason to drool over your 4Runner.

I've seen that thread and I've thought about stronger CVs but here's my logic-
I want the CV shaft to break. I want it to be the weakest link, the fuse, if you will. Think about it. If you have a stronger CV, what now becomes the weakest link? What will break in place of the CV? Spider gears(been there, done that)? Ring gear? Break off the splines in the front diff? All nightmares.
I can swap out a CV trailside in less than 30 minutes, so it's great when they break. I was actually relieved to hear someone tell me there's thick black grease dripping from the passenger side...because until then I was fearing the worst...

DIY Sway Bar Disconnects

I cannot take credit for this design- it was originally dreamed up and beta tested by twitchee2. I put my own spin on it, but in it's basic form it was his idea. Due to this I will not be mass prodicing sets of these sway bar disconects. It was his idea and I will not steal it to make a profit. He may be doing so in the future so contact him if you want a set.
Soup to nuts, the pair costed me around $13 to make.

I started with the lower joints (called rod ends) from McMaster-Carr.
They come with 3/8"-24 threads, which I wouldn't recommend because it's nearly impossible to find threaded rod in the required 6" length with fine threads. I'd have gone with something more similar to a heim in the future. Instead I got a 5/16" bolt and welded it into the joint.

The operation is very simple- instead of disconnecting the sway bar from the control arm completely, we're just loosening the tension. About 3 inches of free-play in each link is MORE than enough to get maximum flex out of the front.

and installed with the lower nut tightened all the way up:

ooooooooookay, well after the road test today, we have a little problem...

I can't tell if the rod bent causing the welds to brake, or if the welds broke first and the rod bent while it was in free swing...so I'm gonna get the same size rod and try it all over again but crank the heat on the welder and see what happens then...the driver's side link is still flawless...

Version 2.0 is in testing process, but with the bigger 3/8" rod, it seems to be holding up well to my crazy test-drive...
