Photo Timeline of my 4Runner {LOTS OF PICS}

still no pictures, but I do have an update...

Axle mounts are all figured out, panhard bar and brackets are done, 1-ton steering is in (had to ream out the Trail Gear HiSteer knuckles to run the steering underneath rather than on top)...axle is coming back out today for final weld-up, truss and armor, then getting painted and tossed back in...should have her sitting on 4 wheels by the weekend.

Next is driveshafts, PS hoses and brakes.

I have the kit from Front Range that allows me to use my Tundra brakes on the 85 axle so it'll just be a matter of mating the Marlin stainless lines to the Tundra calipers. Power steering hoses and driveshafts are getting done by local shops and should just be bolt-in.

I have the Dakota Digital speed calibrator on order and on it's way to me, should be here by monday and I'll have a speedometer again.

Anything else I'm leaving out? downpour11?

Exhaust! Getting stainless pipe to go from the manifold to the muffler...still not sure about running a cat or not...

I think that's it...should be ready in time for the Northeast 4Runner Owner's Association Fall Crawl in mid-October at which time I'll have a whole mess of action shots for you guys to drool over and for me to set as the wallpaper on my work computer lol

Pics soon I hope...

Looking good Bryan.

Are you going to add some gussets above the frame side link mounts? Seems like they can use some beefing up. I would plug weld those holes on the bottom of the frame brackets as well. Get those things as solid and reinforced as possible.

Lookin' good sir. Hows the angle on your IFS box?
the pitman arm is almost flat, tilted up maybe just slightly

We've been throwing around ideas...maybe a crossmember or something...not sure yet

Front engine crossmember is in! Grinding and paint is being done as I type. Flat black everything, but I'm doing the lower links silver!

In other news I am fairly certain I found a fix to my shifter debacle using OEM parts...stand by for test-fit and confirmation, ebay auction ends in 2 hours...

Wednesday will be re-assembly day and I should be sitting back on four wheels! At that point I'll measure out for driveshafts and P/S lines and have that stuff built.

Still need to do some wiring- I have the Dakota speedo calibration box but it needs to be installed. Also want to wire up the t-case sensors to work the 4WD light.

And that seems about it...getting close!

Frankenrunner haha. Mine isn't far off. I can't think of a single major component on my truck that hasn't been modified in some way.

AXLE IS IN!

But first, let's look at yesterday's progress...

Put a wheel on and cycled suspension...great clearence in the back, a little close in the front...washer bottle is gonna have to go and I'm definitely gonna need to put at the very least the 1.25" spacers back on to get the tire off of the frame at full lock...

oh...and some specs:

Wheelbase 106" (before lengthening the rear)
Front Width 61.5" (including the 2.5" extra for the spidertrax spacers)
Rear Width 63"

I really don't like the 2" spacers up front...they're HUGE but I'm also not thrilled about being wider out back...we'll see...

Coming out great Bryan! Yeah the only thing with toyota axles is the width. Wayyy skinny.

Getting closer!

Yeah I wanted to keep it all Toyota...still pissed I have GM 1-ton steering but I'll get over it eventually  I like the design and aftermarket support of the Toyota 8" so we'll work around it. With the slip on rotors I'll gain another .25" on each side plus the spidertrax spacers so I should be realllll close to matching the rear, which is perfect IMO, it's worked great for me over the last 7 years and I think the rear may still outflex the front lol
We were looking it over with the wheel on it and thinking we could have gone 12" travel shocks and get more down-travel out of them, because this suspension DROPS the F out so my limiting factor is gonna be the shocks...
Oh well...as Eddie said, "I'll ride the wave where it takes me" :surfer:, we'll run it as-is and give it hell!

Ha! Haven't heard that quote in years lol

You'll be good with the 10's especially since you didn't touch the rear. My 12's fit in just perfectly without going through the fenders, but now with all the flex in the front, the 9 wraps wouldn't have been able to keep up.

The door is now open! So down the line, you can go bigger if you want/need!

Yeah man, biiiiiig PJ fan over here.
I think it'll be very well balanced front-rear in terms of flex, especially after we mess with the rear links. IMO Toyota's geometry in the rear is fantastic, especially with the lift, just need longer links to push the axle back and get it more centered in the wheel well.
And yes, now its permanently set up so I can always sell the 10's and grab a set of 12's and keep the same springs so ride height is unchanged, just adds more droop.

Time will tell...Rausch Creek trip on October 12/13 so a lot of questions will be answered that weekend

What spring lengths and # are you running? If you switch to 12's later, you'll prob have to swap out the uppers for a longer spring. I had emailed profender regarding valving and spring lengths and they recommended nothing under a 12" upper on 12" c/o's. 10" is just way too short. When I decide to pony up money to find someone to tune these and swap springs, I might even go with a 14" upper with a way lower spring rate. Mainly because you have to preload the hell out of a shorter coil or else it unloads at minimal droop.
