Is it safe for a 60% street driven truck? I've been hearing "not so much"...

I've been looking into this quite a bit actually because of the width but also the availability of bigger brakes (which may include my Tundra Brakes which would be ideal) but the writeups and threads I've been seeing on the subject are not very detailed at all...any info you have or know of would be awesome!

at this point I'm just gonna go with 851 (2" lift, light duty, front FJ80) springs and hope the LCA angle isn't so much as to shorten the wheelbase to an unbearable position. Eventually the rear links will have to get lengthened to provide the correct geometry...

dibs on the front diff are going to my Northeasters to avoid shipping but I'll keep you in mind!
 
Not sure about the 851's but I've got the 861's with a 10mm trim packer and it brings the tires pretty close to the fender. Nothing a little angle grinder can't take care of........or adjustable lowers from Toytec.

Yup. pretty common swap.
 
while I got ya here, Dylan...how much adjustment do the Toytec Rear LCA's allow? Would I be able to adjust for the extra height of 851's(which might even need a small spacer as well)?
 
That's some mad cash. But totally justified in the end. I can't wait to see the final results man! Your truck was pretty badass beforehand and now its just gonna be insane!

Just saw this now,

It all depends on how and what you want to adjust. They can adjust about an inch longer than stock and about 1/2 inch shorter. The main thing you would want to adjust with the is centering the axle with the panhard, and the pinion angle with the upper and/or lower links. The adjustment range they have is more than enough to do that. You don't NEED to adjust anything with the 851's but getting the axle centered and reducing the pinion is going to make it drive waaaaaay better. But if you are planning on 6+ inches on the back, you may want to think about redoing the rear link geometry completely.

I'd love to do something to the rear suspension but I'm gonna be close to 10 grand deep into the front so the rear is just gonna have to get longer links to get the wheelbase back to where it belongs and the longer springs...at least for now...

Yeah they will work well for that. The only problem with lengthening the link is that the tire will be pushed back under full stuff. Probably need to trim a bit more than normal and maybe a long spline driveshaft
