Photo Timeline of my 4Runner {LOTS OF PICS}

I'm gonna gravity bleed them for now...double-pump it all the way to work tomorrow and run the truck on the brake flush machine :biggrin1:

ah you lucky duck and your brake flush machine! Yeah the smallest bit of air through that abs unit will screw it up.. took so long to get em bled lol

Whelp...my truck is rejecting this swap like a bad donor organ...

My driveshaft is the perfect length...PERFECT length...but none of the bolt patterns on my triple drilled flange fit my driveshaft. Wonderful. So I have this idea, right? I'll go grab the flanges off my original transfer case and good to go, right? Wrong. The flanges don't fit the transfer case!

aaaaaand on top of that I cracked the bleeder screw off inside my passenger side caliper...so I need a new 13WL caliper too...

:moping:
not gonna make this weekend's trip after all...

Noooooooo!!! That sucks! How did the flange issue happen?

Damn man.... this thing is fighting you harder than Rocky Balboa! :D

Hope you get her buttoned up soon man!

Yeahh it's been a struggle...I don't care I like a challenge and the amount of articulation on this thing is gonna put my RTI score just around 1000...just bummed she's not gonna make it to this weekend's Fall Crawl

I broke off the bleeder screw in my 13WLs as well when I first installed them, and I went out and got a "tap and die" set. It came right out, and then I went out and bought another set of bleeder screws. Hopefully it goes somewhat smoothly for you LINY. Your truck is beautiful, and I wouldn't lower the front any more. I would need to see it on purely level land, but it looks gorgeous how it sits currently. :thumb:

Thanks dude! Yeah I was gonna attempt some heat and easy-out first to see if I can save the caliper...we'll see

just a little update...I'm still screwed.

Ordered the 5-pattern flange that has the correct pattern for my driveshaft in a 30-spline, assuming the turbo truck transfer case I have is the bigger of the two, and it fits the driveshaft fine, but now it won't work in the case. Case is 27-spline. No big deal, right? I'll just order the 27-spline flange. Marlin is out of stock. They're the only ones who make a 27-spline flange with the correct bolt pattern for my driveshaft and it's out of stock. Fantastic. But hey they make a blank one that you can drill to fit.....oooohhh wait, that's for a 30-spline too!

So frankenshaft time right? Just press the 86 Turbo truck's yoke onto my fitting driveshaft and BOOM done? Nope. My driveshaft has a double cardan in the front and the yoke won't work.

So it's either wait for Marlin to get the 27-spline in or get custom driveshafts made.

:mad2:

That sucks. It's inevitable to run into problems along the way with a custom project like this. But then again sometimes it just seems like bad luck. Hope you get it sorted out soon.

Ordered Inchworm's flange adapter that makes gear cases work in newer trucks...this should be my ticket out!

Ordered it rush shipping so we'll see...

Not sure if this will help you, but i had an issue when i ditched the double cardan on my rear driveshaft. The pattern on the new yolk was not the same as the one on the back of my tcase. And the chain driven tcase flange has a different spline count than all other toyota drive flanges, but the bore centric part of the driveshaft was the same size. I just pushed the flange on the driveshaft on the workbench. Marked some holes with a sharpie doing my best to make them centered and drilled the flange to fit the different pattern. so if you have room on the triple drilled flange for another set of holes just go for it.

Sounds like you already have a solution, but with the way toyota has bore centered driveshafts it makes it easy to drill new holes and actually have it fit.

Awesome idea...ran out there and checked, there's not one blank spot on the flange to drill a hole, there's always at least 1/2 of another hole showing. I'm just gonna run Inchworm's adapter with my factory rear driveshaft with the double cardan joint and call it a day. I'll keep the triple-drilled one installed for options in the event of catastrophic failure. Thanks man!

Sooooooooo Inchworm still hasn't shipped my adapter...apparently they got my expiration date wrong, but never called to get it rectified, just left it sitting on a shelf. After I paid an extra $35 for 2-day Air. :AK47:

If that were my situation, I would demand a $35 credit.

Is it finally being shipped?

It finally shipped on friday after I called and corrected their screw-up. I did ask for the credit on the 2-day Air, waiting on that also.

Tracking number says it should be here tomorrow.

Silly that something so minor is keeping my truck grounded.

Welcome to my head gasket replacement and ARP head studs on my 4runner.... Some things just happen that way. Good to hear that it finally shipped and that you should have it tomorrow. I would definitely call them today about the freight costs. Don't let them forget about it.
