Photo Timeline of my 4Runner {LOTS OF PICS}

In 2WD you can't feel the LSD even the slightest bit...it's gotta be activated by torque...the activation is similar to a lock right, only it's not a positive lock, it's more of a clutch disc that allows some slip, which make it optimum for IFS. A true locker would snap CVs any time you tried to turn on dry pavement under power.
Lol, yeah i got that i was just wondering if it was some sort of lsd i haven't seen before like it was push button activated or something, . I went through a couple of lsd's on my 5.9l jeep that had the really cool dana44a rear axel in it that nobody made lockers for lol. I think i was confused by the 2wd and 2wd locked when you posted that up but it kind of makes sense now in retrospect, you were simply stating that when there is no extra torque going through the front diff is open and when a wheel starts to slip the reduction in torque on a give wheel moves the spring and engages the clutch pack and locks up the front. Lol
just seeing laid out that way confused me, let us know in a year how this working out for you. I know the ones in my jeep were lucky to make it 6 months but that thing had incredible torque numbers and would just roast lsd's i have a feeling though it will be much better on a runner and sounds like your stoked about it so that's a good sign as well. Aslo being in the front diff will probably make a world of difference.

Sorry for the confusion

LINY4Runner knows his **** son! lol
Lol, yes he does lol

Lol,read my orginal post i've been through 3 of them i know how they work i was just confused by what he meant by 2wd open front diff then 2wd locked front diff it sounded like it was push button or something, which blew my mind and liny does a bunch of cool stuff to his ride so maybe he had something i've never seen before lol.

"Isn't a lsd just like a lock rite but with clutch discs"
Lol

noooooo I said 2WD open/locked....meaning the front diff is open and I can lock the rear

Shakedown run was a complete success! Truck wheeled like a champ with the front LSD, I barely had to use the rear locker...I think I used it once. No breakage = always a good thing...here's some pics
here's some pics of my truck this passed weekend doing some wheeling at Rausch Creek...

you can also see in these pics the new roof rack that I built from scratch...I even built it to be able to accept the wind deflector from my old coleman rack so I didn't have to start fresh on the sticker collage

so I take it that you put a tru track up front? I have been really thinking about that too. Its going to happen soon enough.

glad you like it!

yup tru-trac front, e locker rear...I love it, man...she really gets around now...winter build will consist of armor and a winch because we're gonna be running some gnarly trails next season! :guitar3:

Looks like you had a good time. Were you the only one of the group with a runner? Looks like the other guys trailered there play toys.

Mad props for the roof rack you built from scratch..It also looks nice the way you have it sitting close to the roof line, giving it the appearance of a low profile which compliments your truck well.

Well done on that department.:thumb3:

Nice pics and an even nicer Runner! I shoot on a D700 myself. Need to use it more in combo with my Runner. What lens are you shooting on? The kit lens?

Yeah it's a Nikkor 18-55 VR lens that I did all these shots with. Also have a 55-200 VR that I left home...
