Photography: Some fall colors here in Colorado

The fall colors of CO sure beat the fall/winter/spring/early summer colors of Seattle:

Grey, wet, and red brake lights from all the horrible traffic...wonderful.......:AK47:

This looks exactly like Denver. You have some fantastic mountains where you are at. All Denver has is the Rockies skyline and a gnarly, massively overcrowded 2 lane drive to the mountains.

beautiful pictures! I was wanting to get to Maroon Bells as I am not too far away. We made a pitiful attempt to go up to Buffalo Pass around Steamboat but got sidetracked on a wet muddy road. After getting it sideways the wifey was not too happy. It was a gloomy rainy day anyway so we just headed back to Steamboat for dinner. Anybody know if the backside of Buffalo pass has the same colors as rabbit ears?

^ Up around 10k feet the colors are still getting better. With the strangely warm weather for the second half of September it seems like the colors are changing faster at lower altitude for some reason. This shot is from more of the western border of the Maroon Bells Wilderness. Just a quick phone photo so the lighting isn't great:

^ Nice shots! looking up at the Aspens never gets old, in any season. Next weekend should still be great- might even have more color than last weekend. Most of the mountainsides we saw were only halfway through the color change. Makes for some really cool contrasts in photos.

Maroon Bells are getting close to peak NOW...might be beyond peak by next week.

Telluride area is about there as well. Sneffels Range was about 60% last Fri-Sun. I'll be able to say more on Friday, as I'll be back in Telluride for a client shoot.

you guys weren't kidding, it was busy at maroon bells. we went up Friday night and stayed the night (slept in a car in the parking lot) so we could get some star trails and fall pictures. we left Denver at 5pm and got in to aspen around 930. we took star pics until around 1am then up again at 5am. i have 3 separate star trail pics and a 2hour timelapse plus many other shots from hiking up to crater lake.

im still going through them but i can share the one ive already edited. the moon was really bright drowning out the stars above the bells but east was magnificent. this is 30mins (60 * 30") of trails shot with a canon 6d and a 16-35mm f/2.8 lens. edited in LR5 then stacked in PS CS5. the wind picked up a little bit but thankfully the first couple frames the water was glass and i was able to use those

I'm glad so many people get out to enjoy the scenery, but the sheer amount of yahoos I see on every road access basically all summer turns me into a bitter, cynical person. Especially when I spend much of my time stopping to pick up trash because people are slobs.

Got this last weekend, you can still see some colors but most everything above 10k skipped fall and went straight to winter. Should've brought our skis!

I feel like this is the most convincing thread for moving to Colorado that I've ever seen on this site.

If nothing else, my Nikon SLR wants me to move to CO.
