The touchscreen is probably partly to blame for the shorter battery life. I bet if you used the manual dials only, the life would be far greater. But it's hard to avoid when you can see them!

I personally shoot on Nikon, but our work is on Canon's. We're in the video game, so we use a couple of CS300's, but still have a couple of older 5D's as b-roll cameras. Tossing around the idea of upgrading one of them.

I wanted to test out the night/long exposure on the 5D Mark IV and what better way than to shoot some star trails. I went out east of Denver hoping to find an old barn/building or something but I got tired of driving down country roads aimlessly and settled on this structure for the foreground.

stacked 114 photos of 30" exposure. ISO 1600 f/2.8 at 16mm
I tried, but failed, to get the north star in the middle at the top of the stairs

we could see the milky way as well but had too many clouds and it was too high in the sky for any good shots.

I like it! Star photos are my favorite. Would like a 6D or some FF body. On a 60D now.

Still fun to do though.

Fall Colors here in CO has come & gone (for the most part). This year, the colors came about 7 - 10 days early, which really messed with people's schedules (lol).

I had 3 planned locations to shoot, but had to improvise as things changed.

Fall Colors 2016 was just weird…and I do mean WEIRD!

Colors started changing 7-10 days earlier than usual. During my time in CB, we had 1-1/2 days of snow, which really jacked with the aspens!

Took this image "Cozy Cabin" during the snowy time


and the very next day, all of those aspens were dark brown. :'( UGH!!

I had too much going on all at the same time, so I didn't have as much dedicated time to hunting out the best color. To combat that insanity, I have already blocked out 3 weeks on my 2017 calendar so I can just 'be' in the areas I want to shoot!!!!!!

Thanks! Some are from Olympic (#2 and #3) but the others are from the North Cascades (Mt Shuksan) and then the rest are from Canada (Mt. Edith Cavell in Jasper and Mt Robson in Robson Provincial Park)

Thanks! All of the shots are with a D800 and either a 16-35/4 or a 70-200/2.8. I shoot at small apertures (large f numbers), long exposures (generally 30 seconds or more), and low ISO (100 or 50 if I have to).

Thanks for noticing that little detail. I wouldn't say it was "planned" but it was noticed and part of the reason the photo was taken in that moment. Turned out pretty cool cause he's the one who built the truck.

Thanks for the good luck. I think the contest is dead... We made our submission but the website hasnt been update in months. Not sure whats going on and we've emailed them several times to inquire without a response.

Mostly split between 24-120 f4 & 24-70 f2.8

I took a handful of photos with a 60mm macro also.
