Picked up another project today

Congrats to both of you on your recent purchases. I just purchased this seized up 96 last Wednesday but i have 2 other 4runners and a 04 tacoma. Are you guys new to 4runners?

I'm am new to 4Runners. My previous projects have been a 15 GTI (still have), a 13 BRZ, a 10 Golf TDI, an 06 GTO, and a 99 Taurus SHO. Never had a truck.

The motor that i found in the Az. salvage yard quickly sold to a local buyer so the hunt is back on. Everything else i'm finding so far has crazy miles. I can't wait to start wrenching on this project!

Finally found a low mile 3.4L, 109k miles out of a recently wrecked 02 4runner. I called the same Arizona salvage yard where i purchased my tacoma engine to see what they had available and they just got this vehicle in 3 days ago. $700+$275 shipping, not bad considering everything i've found local is $1000-$1200 with over 150k miles. Now i have to get a tb & wp kit, drive belts, hoses, fuel & air filters, plugs & wires, Tstat, valve cover gaskets... Might go to work and pull the old motor out tomorrow, can't wait to start wrenching on this project.

My replacement Tacoma engine came from the same AZ salvage yard, it was clean also. Gotta love the south west, no salt & no humidity.

I was pleasantly surprised when i removed the valve cover! Hopefully it runs as good as it looks.

Wow, That engine looks really clean! The valve train looks clean too! The valve train in my engine was really clean.
Is it a 4Runner engine? I think I mentioned mine was from a Hiace. Good luck with the swap! Can't wait to see the result!
