Picking up my 4Runner

Hey, guys! Long-time member here (since '03!).

So I found a great deal on a 2011 4Runner Limited 4x4 with just under 18k miles and will I be picking it up this weekend. :biggrin1:

It will be replacing my beloved 3rd gen. 4Runner with nearly 200k miles on it that was totaled a few months ago when someone ran a redlight. :nono: I wanted to fix it, but the frame damage was extensive. I still plan on getting another 3rd gen. in the future. They are amazing trucks.

Anyway, I am wondering what things I should make sure to get from the original owner with the sale of the new-to-me 4Runner.

-I assume it comes with 2 master keys, how about a valet key?
-Manuals (multiple or just 1?)
-Tool kit/bottle jack? Where are these located?
-Do Limited models come with any wheel locks that I need a key for?
-Original window sticker?
-Did Toyota include a receiver for the hitch?

Anything I'm missing? Please add to the list...

I'm sorry about your accident, I hope no one got badly hurt. You will love your upgraded truck!! I answered below with the best of my knowledge.

-I assume it comes with 2 master keys, how about a valet key?
2 key fobs, the fobs have a metal key that pops out on each FOB
No valet key since it's "push start"
-Manuals (multiple or just 1?)
I think I have 3 total, I will double check and get back to you
-Tool kit/bottle jack? Where are these located?
Located on the driver side, all the way in the back right next to the left gate (on the side of the truck)

Mine did not come with wheel locks
-Original window sticker?
-Did Toyota include a receiver for the hitch?
Mine purchased from the dealer did not have a receiver hitch

Anything I'm missing? Please add to the list...

Not too many detachable parts in the truck.
Ask him if the truck came with floor matts, I would try to make sure you get those. There is a CD divider (small plastic piece) in the center console. I think that's about it. Maybe make sure that the back up camera is working?

I too had a 3rd gen and totaled it (a guy pulled out in front of my in a Accord). Bent frame, body panels, pass door wouldn't open with out making a popping noise that would scare the shit out of you every time, etc. miss her. Totaled 5/9/2010.

I don't have a 5th gen (I would rather my V8 but I like the 5th gen). But the jack & tools should be in the cargo area. There should be a little removable door to access it.

Wheel locks depends of the dealer has them on.

You'd have to check in the truck/ with the dealer about the manuals.

Other than that the basic maintence history, flood/ salvage/ fire damage, etc all applies.

Congrats on the new ride! Looks very similar to mine as well (although no running boards on mine - oh and I have 66k miles on mine)! If you are missing anything, let me know as I have a smart key and OEM mats (both brand new) for sale (in the items for sale thread). Good luck with the new rig! lane:

Couple of things to ask about:

1. Sirius XM - active/renewal? (there's a thread on this)
2. My LE has the exact same wheels as yours and did not come with wheel locks
3. Ext Wty - did the original owner have one that extended past 36K? If so it should be transferable. If not, don't get one through the dealership...suggest you contact Jerry Johnson at Midwest Superstore in KS for this -you'll save tons of $$$...see the thread on ext wty on the board.
4. If it has the "Vehicle Shield Package" option you should get a brochure that details the protection and also a bottle of cleaner for the leather seats.
5. Make them provide you with a CARFAX.

Congratulations on your new rig. Looks great! Sometimes it takes something unfortunate to force us to upgrade.

I have an SR5 and it came with two electronic keys and a valet key. I guess all LE's are push start? I don't know, but a valet key came with mine.

Regarding the spare, (first check to make sure there is one) I recommend you open up the back-left compartment in the corner and check to make sure it's all there (tool bag and jack) like others have mentioned, but after you take the vehicle home, I'd highly suggest you open up the tool kit and practice lowering the spare tire with the 3-piece tool you have to put together.

This thread I've posted below was REALLY great. I highly recommend you read it. The OP shows how cumbersome and difficult it was to put together the tool and lower the spare. Must go at an angle from the right-and upper-to-lower to get it to work. Best to learn this in your garage or driveway than by the side of the highway, that's for sure

Do all LE's come with the JBL sound system?

In 2012, LE's came with either JBL or Entune...in 2011, I think it was just JBL, as Entune wasn't available on LE's until 2012.
