I've been getting a bazillion inquiries about the differences of the SR5, Sport & Urban Runner Gauges vs Limited Gauges

I've always loved the Limited gauges, that little red dot is the coolest thing to look at lol.

Hopefully it makes it to the 5th gen too.

Is the only difference the red dot and the circle area that holds the needle?

Does the red dot move with the needle?
if it does, I wonder if the Limited would be a direct plug and play swap with the SR5 and Sports..

Anyone know if you can swap?? I would love to if I could find some that are decently priced, maybe off a totalled limited or something. Thanks for the post, I never knew there was a difference.

Is the dot on purpose? I thought it was just because the light came off the gauge -- I always thought it was weird.

The Limited gauges have nicer numbers, tally marks, center axis & the needles glow.

It looks like there's a red dot, because it's the reflection off the needle, hitting the pod cluster.

I have had mine since April of 07 and never knew there was a difference in the gauges.......stupid me !

i wanna know if these gauges can be swapped, i've always loved how the limited gauges looked, that would be awesome if its possible.

If I knew anyone in the Denver area, willing to pull the cluster, Id love to know if they would swap also...

Yup, that's definitely the limited gauge cluster, looks just like mine.

As to the "red dot", my opinion is that the needles are basically "fiber optic" and the light that illuminates them (gauge lights are on all the time, regardless of whether your running lights or headlights are on or not) simply passes out the end of the needles and reflects off the side of the gauge's enclosure. At least that's how it appears to me when I am sitting right in front of them.

As to swapability? I would assume that they are swapable. Like I said, I think the "dot" is a function of the needles' internal lighting system and would work so long as the needles themselves had power and would otherwise light up.

I also never knew there were separate gauge clusters among the models. I didn't really notice the "red dot" on mine until the drive home from the dealership when I bought it - and I could not remember if the SR5 and Sport models I had test driven a week earlier had them.

I think the limited gauge also has a fog light indicator.

Yup. The headlamp "on" indicator is just above the P in the gear indicator...the fog lamp "on" indicater is below the gear indicator, near the odo/trip reset stalk.

i just check the price on the limited cluster, its about 500 - 600 bucks for it at partznet. kind of exspensive, but nice to do odometer fraud???

u fuuuuuuuucing haters lol, anyways anyone willing to do this swap?

I've wanted to do the swap for a while now but i haven't found a used one to check if it's a direct swap. For some reason, none of the limited owners i know are willing to let me take apart thier dash to check:confused:
