It does go down over time. Most of what goes is water; just normal 'hot-liquid evaporation' stuff. I usually just bring my level back up with distilled water.
I don't know that I'd do that this time of year in N.J. though. It takes a few heat cycles to get the fluid in the overflow bottle to adequately mix with the anti-freeze. If I were you I would buy the gallon of the pre-mixed Toyota antifreeze.

Sounds like the stealership didn't fill it up on your last oil change. I know mine will go down a tad bit everytime i turn on the A/C.
Bring your wallet, that stuff is EXPENSIVE $$$

$12 for a gallon of Toyota's red antifreeze is a steal. Where did you buy it from? The last time I bought it here (Chicago area) it was over $30 a gallon!
He probably meant he bought the pink (pre-mixed w/ distilled water) for $12. The red (undiluted) is usually $20-30/gallon depending on whether there is a discount or not. I paid $24/gallon this past May for the red.
On a side note, when we took our Honda into the dealer for a complimentary oil change a couple of months ago, it was down on coolant by maybe an inch or so in the reservoir tank. The service tech topped it off and gave us the rest of the gallon of coolant "just in case you need to top it off again".

Are we supposed to check these hot or cold? Makes a big difference.
Definitely don't mix with anything but Toyota pink, other Toyota enthusiasts have reported many problems with coolant sludge. I haven't heard of problems here, but don't want to chance it. It only comes pre-mixed and not cheap, but it's not like you go through a lot.
And don't use Dexcool, even GM who designed it doesn't recommend it. If you replace your Dexcool in a GM car with fresh Dexcool it voids the warranty, amazing.
