Plasti Dipped my LE wheels

Did this today, and am pretty happy with the results. Anyone have an idea as to how long the plasti-dip will hold up?

Looks great! About your question, it depends on how you prep and how many coats you put. Also, if you always go off the road, it might chip because of the rocks. But if not, it will stay in good condition for about 6-8 months.

It's fun to mess with to see what the wheels will look like, but I have a feeling that the coating won't have tremendous longevity.

I may end up just getting them powder coated gloss black.

I thought the same thing but my wheels were very durable.

Well now that i'm going down the powder coating path, any opinions or pictures of different finishes to go with? i.e. Flat, Semi Gloss, or Gloss black powder coat?

The durability of dip is a lot more then what some people give it credit for. I've had dip on my wheels for a year of abuse so far and the only place where it is coming up if from where the tire shop had to pull the tire off the rim.

The downside of PC is when you chip the PC it's not as easy to repair. For 6ish dollars a can you can respray your wheels for touch up. Plus if I ever change wheels and want to sell my stockers, I can peel it off and they'll be original again.

they sell it at home depot, I can't imagine why anyone would want to pay someone to use a product like this for them.
I'm sure it probably wouldn't be the best thing to make a mid-afternoon snack out of:toilet:, but as far as VOC's and solvents go, there are no major concerns once its dry.
