Guys i can get a great deal from a friend who's lifting his 2012 FJ TT.. Was wanting to know if these shocks would work on my 04 runner V8? SE 4WD and removing XREAS.. I havent seen anything on 2012 FJs thats the rason I started a new thread.. Thnx again.
thanks for response and link. Going by that Ill probably pass. I m just gonna go with the 5100s and FJ springs in rear then use a spacer to level it out.. Thanks again. Any reccomendations on a spacer for this combo?
You could use both front and rear coils, would be a good idea if the price is right. The 5100 front shocks can be set at 0", .85", 1.75", or 2.5" lift. How big of a rear spacer you need will depend on what setting you use. If you use the 2.5" setting, you can use a Daystar 1.5" rear spacer. These are probably the cheapest rear spacer you'll find, about $40.
Doesn't sound like a real friend if you ask me. But +1 on the 5100's @2.5" with FJ coils (I have 2010s) and 1.5" daystar rear spacer. It's a solid combination!

Well got my stuff all in my shop.. Got rear coils and 5100s in yesterday.. Gonna go with the stock front springs and 5100s at front. So is the top notch what is recommended, even with the factory springs in front ?
Anyways here are some pics...
Factory.. sorry on sloped driveway...

X-REAS disconnected...

If anyone can use this idea it helped alot.. but I wedge a hammer in there and it worked perfectly to keep shock from turning while removing top nut...

I guess I just need to remember to disconnect my ABS to keep it from strectching or tearing it right? Going with the no compressor method as I think is actually easier and safer..
Good write up... I was under the impression that you couldn't undo the XREAS without replacing all the shocks at once... Any difference riding around with 5100s on the rear and stock up front? I had thought about just doing 5100s on the front and just a rear spacer rather than doing 5100s back there but I didn't think I could...
I didn't disconnect the ABS wires, I just made sure they didn't get stretched.
Thanks thats kind of what I figured.. Any info on my setting question?
