I am about to install a new stereo in my 2008 SR5 and I am confused a little about where to power all the items. I am installing an Alpine W407 headunit, M300 Navigation unit, XM2 satellite, video Bypass and Steering wheel PAC. For those of you that have installed these items, how did you power them. Straight off the headunit harness? Fuse box? Any help would be appreciated.

I bought my replacement stuff from Crutchfield. The harness plugged directly into the factory harness.

The steering wheel pac was a little challenging on my 4Runner but Crutchfield walked me thfough it. This last Friday I put the same system in my FJ. The steering wheel PAC wired up differently and I would not have done it correctly without Crutchfields help. I had to wire in one of the resistors for the FJ but not on the 4Runner.

Good luck

Yep, used the power source off of the harness. X2 on the harness, Crutchfield and others have the correct harness for the SR5 4R. I'd pick one one up and solder it to the one supplied with the aftermarket headunit. While you are mating the two harnesses go ahead and solder the other power and ground wires for the other units. Then you can just plug it in!
