Please I need Help: Lift Kit

I want to install a lift kit on the 2012 SR5 and rock some nice 285/70/17 tires...possibly the duratracs, bfgs, terra grapplers, which ever is cheaper at the time.

I'm interested in suspension lifts, no spacers and cosmetic lifts please.

Here's the catch: My garage at work has a indicated max clearance of 6'-5" = 77". From what I've been told, if I go with a 3" Toytec Boss Lift w/ 285s the height will be roughly 77". Too close to take the chance.

Does anyone have any suggestions or experience of what I could do to meet all my wants and needs? :lookout:

Park outside. It's worth it. I just did the Toytec BOSS suspension on my '12 4Runner and I love it! My garage opening is 6'10" and I come in around 6'5".

Is the 77" with or without the roof rack? You could always take it off to give you 2" - 3".

I believe the 77" is with the factory installed roof rails. I've been told I could take these off as you suggested, but I'd rather keep them if at all possible for my boards.
 
I have the Sonoran Steel Bilstien lift set and just measured it last night and I'm at 76" with Cooper AT3s in the stock 265*65*17. You can see my setup in my signature but keep in mind that I have sliders and a winch pulling things down a little. Talk to Steve at Sonoran, he will be able to tell set you in the right direction (my guess is not quite a 3" lift or perhaps 2" 1/2" in the front). Just don't forget to take your tires into consideration, as I'm going with 285*70*17 today which is going to add about an inch of height.

Maybe you could get the lift you want with smaller tires?

I just got my 285x70x17 Cooper ST Maxx's on and it looks like that made a big difference as the height is now just under 79" (3" taller). I guess my AT3's treads were worn down but just wanted to let you know so that you don't run into your garage thinking the tires don't make too much difference. Once my Antenna hit I knew I had to get out and measure (the antenna is at 7' (84") height now with the new tires I just found out by the way, so I guess its ~5" taller than the stock rack).
 
i have the boss on my 4th gen and i would say it would be worth it to just park out side. but if you must you can always just get the regular superflexes in the rear and lower the front coilovers alittle. and if height is that close i would say go with BFG tires since they usually run a little smaller than everyone elses tires, And as much as i hate to say it don't do coopers since they're the opposite ,bigger than normal(my 285 cooper st/maxx are at least an inch closer to 1.5 inches taller than my dads BFG km2s in 285 . ill measure my over all height when i get out of class today and update, yes i know the height of the 4th and 5th gen runners isnt quiet the same but itll give and idea i hope.
 
Thanks for the helpful responses. The more and more I look at it, I may not be able to do the 3" w/ 285s. I'm not sure if 2-12" kits are avail out there and go with 275s?
 
Sounds like you have the same problem I have. I want bigger tires/slight lift but only have 6.5' of height in my work garage.
 
Still trying to figure out what I am gonna do. Also, I am gonna measure the garage myself to see if it is really only 6.5'. I know where my antenna used to hit so I know where the low points are.
 
Full lift, bigger tires, park in garage. Choose the two that you want the most and move on...

It might be different in your area, but most in our neck are 80" or 6'6". My truck with 285's and 3" lift is 77". Lift and tires were no problem, a Gobi Stealth addition . . . Problem.
